I had to do some on a pistol.Afterwords i used Birchwood Casey.Fairly easy.Same thing get it to bear metal apply wait 30 sec wash off with water and buff with 0000 steel wool.Repeat if you want it darker.Coat with rust protection/let sit for 24

i have a 1849 colt pocket that has some dark mess in the barrel.Never shot it.Came this way when i got it.Any tips like the above would greatly appreciated.

Looking at a nice black powder conversion gated pistol.Need an FFL here in socal.I can put up with the stinking taxes but to have to pay $125.00 plus transfer fee's bites.Anyone help.
