Well speaking as a man in Northern Michigan, I would say that is an excellent rifle. But I would go with a .338 Win Mag since you said Elk.................... Oh, hey! I just so happen to have a Savage 111FXP3 .338 Win Mag in Northern Michigan for sale. :evil:

Go to an estate auction if you can, lot's of good deals. I got my 6" S&W 1905 (?) Target for $100 at one.

I carry my 3" K-frame .357 magregularly (hence the name), but my Dad carries his Taurus 3" .44 mag (really a 2" with the last 1" being a compensator) almost daily. Luckily he is almost deaf in one ear already, so he wouldn't mind shooting it in his truck. :what:

I have both the Sig 229 .40 and CZ75 9mm. Both are excellent firearms. However, there is a stronger "goodies" market for the Sig 229. I have had a little problem finding readily available stuff for the CZ.

For carry I use a Para CCW .45, commander length single stack, very easy to "hide". For HD I use a Sig P229 .40, it has night sights and a hi-cap mag. It is a little larger (harder to "hide") and my wife (who doesn't enjoy shooting) can use it easily (no safety and night sights). That being...

I carry either my .357 or a .45 while hunting with a rifle. Although, I sometimes hunt with my .44 mag, so I guess it would be that then. :D

I just purchased a Para CCW, it's kind of an officer's frame with a commanders slide, I think. Stainless with Para's LDA setup. Paid $435 otd, good deal or run of the mill?:confused:

Went to the show with my dad. He picked up a 9.5" ss SRH in 44 mag with a Leupold scope for $575 otd. No handling marks, and barely noticeable turn ring. Think he got a good deal?
