The factory grip is fine for shooting .38 special, but I didn't like shooting .357 magnum with them. I have fairly large hands, so my pinkie didn't have anywhere to stay on the grip, and the back of the trigger guard bit into my middle finger.
I replaced it with the Hogue Monogrip, and it's...
I got the same thing, but with the exposed hammer. I assume you got the 2.25" barrel as well, as I don't think the DAO is available with longer barrels, but correct me if I'm wrong.
It's a ton of fun to shoot .38spl out of, but the stock grip doesn't quite manage the recoil of .357mag as well...
In Ohio, the NRA basic pistol course IS the required class for the CCW license. I took it at the beginning of June. It's 10 hours of classroom time and 2 hours actual range practice. Unfortunately, the first available appointment to apply was at the end of August. Good thing those competency...
Just bought my first revolver, a Ruger SP101. I got the .357 magnum version with 2.25" barrel and exposed hammer. Might try a Hogue grip if the .357 recoil shreds my finger meat, as some reviews say it does. I only have .38 Special ammo for now.
Earlier this year at the age of 23. My first time shooting was just a few months prior to that, around Thanksgiving of last year. Bought my first gun at a local gun store in March of this year. Now I have three total, and have completed the NRA basic pistol course.
Better late then never, I...
I believe the Stingers also have a longer case than a standard .22LR with a shorter bullet, but same overall length. It's why some .22LR rifles specify Stingers as not suitable for use, as the extended case causes failure to eject or load properly.

The only .22LR ammo of any kind that's been in stock at my local stores has been CCI. A few weeks ago they had high-velocity segmented HP, and the last couple weeks it's been Mini-Mags.
Having shot a few hundred of each, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend either.
Reloadron: Small world! You ever been to the Grand River Wildlife Area range? It's a bit of a drive from Cleveland proper, probably 30-45 minutes east along 422 depending on where you're starting.
I've actually been lurking for a little while, just got around to registering. I like it so far!
Hey everyone...my name's Brendon, and I'm a relatively new shooter (first time shooting was last year) from northeast Ohio. My girlfriend and I currently have a modest collection of three guns: a Colt 1911 .22LR, a Ruger 10/22 carbine, and a Ruger Mk III Target. We also both just took the NRA...
