    I'm embarrassed. Negligent Discharge.

Generally you just open the lever and put the rifle on the bench. The open lever ejects the round from the chamber and leaves it empty and open for inspection.

Golden Rod in wood gun cabinet?

I just bought a 12 inch (12 watt) Golden Rod dehumidifier for my 6 rifle gun cabinet. It a nice maple cabinet with a glass front door. I was surprised how hot the golden Rod gets to the touch. While I can touch it, I certainly wouldn't leave my finger in contact with it more than a moment. So...

    Uberti 1873 Rifle: 18" or 20"?

Good info so far! Interestingly, the spec capacity for both the 18" and 20" is the same, 10 rounds. Not sure how they get that to work, as the 20" really should hold more rounds... Edit: I asked my favorite vendor, and they said: The 20 inch will hold ten 357 mag and eleven 38spc. The 18 will...

    Uberti 1873 Rifle: 18" or 20"?

I'm considering picking up an Uberti 1873 (Winchester copy) in .357mag/.38special. I shoot mostly at paper, with the possibility of some small game hunting. I'm into accuracy more than just ringing a gong. I'm wondering if anyone has any real knowledge about the ballistics / sight picture...

Results of gun care product evaluation

Sweat Drop Testing Well, this test was an inspiration. DIY_guy, the effort and the care you have taken with this test is just fantastic! For those who haven't done a test like this themselves, let me say that you often learn a lot doing it. I've done some much smaller tests myself and one of...

Results of gun care product evaluation

Wow, fantastic testing! I've seen lots of collectors swear by Renaissance Wax. It hasn't worked well for me but you might consider adding it if you do a follow up test.

    Your go-to CLP Help wanted

I did a MUCH smaller test last week to compare Renaissance Wax with EEZOX and BreakFree Collector. I used actual sweat as a corrosion accelerator. ;-) If you are curious, I posted the results here: http://www.vintageveloce.com/2014/05/metal-and-gun-protectants-revisited.html Carl

Wow! This looks to be a fantastic test. Did you include any waxes, like Renaissance Wax? Carl
