    Advice on a sxs

I agree with gunlaw, check out an old Stevens 311, they had great quality, made in America sxs. With double or single trigger. My friend has one. Stevens also made the J.C. Higgins sxs 12gauge Model 101-540 for Sears and Roebuck, I have that one and I love it. Mine is a single trigger. Me and...

    What's wrong with remington?

I guess I've been lucky. I've owned quite a few Remington's , old and new. All have been great. I haven't had any of the entry level guns though.

    Why no love? S&W 1911

I would definitely try one and with Smith & Wesson's reputation, I wouldn't worry about quality. I have no experience with them. It could be the higher price tag or that when most people the S&W, they still think revolver. When most people think Remington, the think rifle and shotgun, but my EDC...

Do laser boresight devices work? If yes, which is a good one?

I used one on my new deer rifle and when I went to sight in on paper, I was off a lot even at 25 yards. I used the end of barrel type, the type that fit in the receiver may be better.

    Would you fire dropped ammo?

I have shot a few cartridges after cleaning them off very well. I don't drop them much, but things happen. If a magazine gets dropped, it should be inspected thoroughly for dents and dirt.

What are you taking deer hunting this year?

I'm taking my Remington 700 CDL Classic Deluxe 30-06 with Leupold VX2 scope. I also will be taking my Remington 1911 R1 as a back up pistol.

3 robbed at gunpoint after N.C. state fair declares gun-free zone

It is a proven fact that in gun free zones, gun crime goes up. Case in point Chicago and Washington DC. This last 4th of July there was on average in Chicago, a little over 1 shooting each hour in the 24 hour period. Every time a law abiding citizen is disarmed, a criminal Jumps for joy. It...

    Top ten annoying gun things

Gun snobbery of any kind. If a person can afford the latest, greatest gun that's fine. I'm happy for them. However, don't look down on the guy at the range or out hunting with his or her inexpensive gun. That may be all they can afford or maybe that inexpensive firearm is just what the person...

Local gun store, How much is too much?

Also, I hate it when gun shop owners or employees talk down to me. Just because I have a question, doesn't mean I'm an idiot and I won't be treated like one.

Local gun store, How much is too much?

I do my best to go to private owned gun shops and only give repeat business if it is a good shop with customer service, selection, etc. I have a favorite that I try to buy all my guns at. I never go to places like Gander Mountain or big box places, unless they are the only place to have what I...

    Gun cleaning

I clean most of them after every use, except my EDC. I also don't clean a hunting rifle after it is sighted in for the season. Unless, it is exposed to rain, melted snow, etc. My Colt Dragoon replica is a cap and ball revolver, so I clean it after every use.

    Gun Cleaners and Protectants opinion

I have used quite a few gun Cleaner, lube and protectants. From the older stuff like Rem Oil to the newer stuff like Froglube and Gunzilla. I've had pretty good results with Rem Oil, it's reliable and inexpensive, has stood the test of time and all in all, I trust it. I'm not knocking...

Who do you subscribe to on Youtube?

I subscribe to a few, like Hickok45, Fateofdestinee and others. My favorite all around is Fateofdestinee, she covers some gun reviews, but also holsters, safety for adults and kids, also this girl can shoot great. Anything from her favorite 1911 to her S&W 500 Magnum. She intersperses other...

Which do you prefer: Stainless w/ black sythetic stock or Blued Metal w/ wood stock?

Which do you prefer: Stainless w/ black sythetic stock or Blued Metal w/ wood... I am a blued and wood guy. I absolutely love my new Remington 700 CDL Classic Deluxe 30-06. I don't like polymer or synthetic on pistols or shotguns either. I like some stainless guns, but not on anything for hunting.

    Home defense handgun

A shotgun in 20 gauge sounds like your best bet. Less recoil than a bigger shotgun but very lethal. She won't have to worry about precise aiming, like with a handgun. Just point and shoot. They even come on junior sizes.

    1911 for around $800

I would say the Remington 1911R1. I have one and they are very accurate, American made, 1 year cleaning service for free, a rebate and they come with a match grade barrel right out of the box. They are about $750 or less for the basic R1.

Using antiquated rounds for defense purposes

I have a Colt Dragoon replica cap& ball and I love it. Slow to reload but very powerful. They call it a .44 but it actually takes a .457 ball. It is very accurate. The Texas Rangers and US Calvary used them in the 1800's.
