How to take the "Game" out of Venison.

+1 I just don't like the taste of the things that should not be left in. It seems like many people here are well informed on the subject, but after tasting deer many times before know this myself I figured its only right that I pass on this gem to the world :)

How to take the "Game" out of Venison.

Sorry about that gang, the video link should be fixed now. This is pretty similar to my own method. I have found that the threads of silver skin/tendons etc are by far the worst offenders. CWD has not yet reached my local population (much), but my wife works for the conservation...

    Can my Mosin be fixed?

Docsleepy, Thanks for your reply. Could you elaborate on the purpose of the barrel sleeve on your mosin? I assume this is to improve accuracy, but exactly how? Is it a heat sink? A stiff back? Matt

Guys is there some where that I can find information on how much of what powder to use in this cartridge? In my reloading manual it has the least and most permitted for each shell and for different bullet sizes, but nothing for 7.62x54R.

    Can my Mosin be fixed?

Scottbird, Thanks. I think its nice lookin myself. Docsleepy, I'm ok with hearing more than one opinion. Hearing the same thing from many people is just validation I'm on the right track. Also thanks for the recipe, I may need it soon. Here is the latest on my gun. I...

    Can my Mosin be fixed?

Thanks guys for chiming in. Here is a recap of where I am at. As for the what I am seeing in the barrel I still dont know for sure. I have put literally hundreds of rounds though this gun so its probly not going to kaboom. It is probly just a superficial scratch/cut in there...

It runs from just below where the neck of the chamber shrinks to just above it in the direction of the barrel, in a straight line.

    Can my Mosin be fixed?

Hey guys I have another important question. I recently noticed that when I look inside the chamber of my gun right at the point where the bullet neck would seat there appears to be a hairline crack in the barrel chamber. Is this common or is this a dangerous gun?

    Can my Mosin be fixed?

Woot!! We're making some progress men! I went ahead and recrowed the bezel. Then I decided to "bite the bullet" and :barf: up the big bucks for some good ammo at a local shop. When I went to the range all the parts including my scope mount had been removed so I could put the gun...

    Can my Mosin be fixed?

Its fairly cool here in my shop, about 70 deg F. At this room temp I just measured 4 shells and got 307,308 on all of them.:scrutiny: I may sniff around for some other ammo. I dont have the equipment to reload yet, but its not out of the question. Maybe for now I will pick up some of...

    Can my Mosin be fixed?

Ron you may be right. I am pretty sure, that I did hit the crow with 1500 sand paper when I was done, but I suppose its still possible there is a burr. I may recrown on the off chance that is the problem. Right now I am praying it is something that simple. ApacheCoTodd, Sure I...

    Can my Mosin be fixed?

Thanks guys for the quick replies. I did as suggested and slugged the barrels ( been here one day and already I learned something new) of both my mosins ( put a greased fishing weight thought them). For one I got 311, and for the gun in question I got 312 as being the largest diameter of...

    Can my Mosin be fixed?

Hi everyone, My name is Matt, and I am brand new to this forum. I read where this is one of the most frequented gun forums so I thought I would stop in and see if I can find some help. I recently purchased a Mosin Nagant. When I got it both the barrel and stock had been cut down...
