    Trimming .30 Carbine brass

Thanks Maxx. I bought the case length gauge but the other two parts should let me use the Frankford unit. BIL had accumulated about 500 pieces of brass and a lot it must have been from old surplus. Some of the brass had pimers so tight the Lee resizer die could not punch out no matter how...

    Trimming .30 Carbine brass

My BIL is a 30 Carbine fan but plinking ammo kind of pricey. He's not a reloader so agreed to help him out. Almost every case is over 1.290 after resizing. I have never trimmed straight wall pistol cases but do use the Frankford Arsenal trim station for bottleneck rifle (indexing off of the...

    Concrete mixer for brass tumbling

I've always used pins for my personal use in the FA but found when bulk cleaning pistol cases pin removal is a little too labor intensive. Still clean 30 cal rifle cases with FA/pins after depriming though

    Concrete mixer for brass tumbling

I bought one of the poly drum mixers from HF for my online used brass store. It will clean 25 lbs in 30-45 minutes w/o pins using couple of dishwasher pods and dash of lemashine I bolted 2" nylon paddles to the blades to enhance the mix. Mixers rotate slower than the FA tumblers so case damage...

    CBTO advice for bullet seating

Decided to try and up my accuracy game by seating bullets closer and more consistently to the lands of my 6.5 CM RAR Predator. Working with a Hornady OAL gauge and bullet comparator set I quickly found out that a bullet base to ogive is much more consistent than bullet's OAL Couple of my...

    Minimum Barrel OD for threading

Thanks guys. Want to stick with standard 1/2 and 5/8 sizes. Have an inquiry to Dead Air so will see what they recommend. Think the 223 will have enough shoulder after threading but 308 will have to be shortened to get to minimum OD.

    Minimum Barrel OD for threading

Probably been asked many times before so apologies for rookie question. Plan to purchase first suppressor, a Nomad 30 for multiple rifle calibers. I have 2 older RARs, a 223 and 308. Both have 22" sporter barrels with 0.590 OD at the muzzles I think I can have the 223 trimmed and threaded...

    Bullet feeder for Lee ABLP

Anyone have any experience using a Mr. Bulletfeed die on a Lee Auto Breech Lock press? Would like to use it with a manual tube feed system if possible. Tried the Hornady die but cannot get it to feed plated bullets consistently. Thanks

    Reloading Shop recommendations in TX

Going to be traveling from El Paso to Florida along the I-10 corridor in May. Looking for any recommendations for brick and mortar stores (local or big box) along the way that might be worth stopping at to see if they have any components in stock. I know it's a long shot (groan) but maybe get...

    223 reloading process

I mostly reload pistol but dabble in rifle (223, 308, 300 BLK and 6.5 CM) and enjoy the technical aspects of reloading rifle calibers. What I don't like is the case prep phase and am looking for ways to make it easier and more consistent. Had a few of stuck cases, mostly with the expander...

I spent some time reloading with my daughter today

You are a lucky man! None of my kids shoot or reload but I do have a 6 year old grandson who likes to help me reload (until his 15 minute attention span stops)

    Skinny bullets from Xtreme

Thanks for responses. I meant the OAL was 1.125, not 1.250 and I do use the Lee FCD die for a taper crimp. After pulling the setback bullets I measured several of the other bullets in the box and all were less than 0.400. Also measured some Berry's labeled as 0.401 which they were and another...

    Skinny bullets from Xtreme

Loaded up some plinking rounds for SW .40 using new box of 165g Xtreme TCs. OAL set at 1.250 using 4.7g of AA #2 and mild taper crimp. Very mild shooting round Out of the 100 rounds loaded 10 suffered setback when they hit the feed ramp and gun would jam. Pulled the 10 setbacks very easily...

Zero 124 Gr. JHP and IMR 700X

I've shot 124g Xtreme plated RNs at 3.5g and 4.0g and 1.150 OAL out of a RugerP89. 3.5g chrono'd at 865 fps but was apparently too light with cycling issues. 4.0g chrono'd at 995 fps with no cycling issues. Decent powder but might be a little flaky for some volumetric dispensers. I use...
