    TAC for 6.5 Creedmoor?

Just doing my part to be an enviro greenie. After the cardboard has holes put in it and groups are measured it gets thrown in the recycle bin. Plus the stickers are much cheaper than buying printed targets. I do make it down there occasionally for work. Thanks for the offer. I may take you...

    TAC for 6.5 Creedmoor?

Last of the playing with TAC and 90 gr Speer TNT bullets in my 6.5 Creedmoor. This time I tried regular Winchester Large Rifle Primers and CCI Magnum Large Rifle Primers. I shot at 100 yards since it was drizzling when I set up and the 200 yard benches are not covered. Results: 38.0 gr TAC...

    TAC for 6.5 Creedmoor?

Since it warmed up in eastern WA and melted the snow off the 200 yard benches I decided to try TAC and the 90 gr. Speer TNT at 200 yards. Load data: 6.5 Creedmoor 90 gr Speer TNT bullets Win LRP Hornady Brass, 4X fired, Full length sized, trimmed to 1.911 inches Powder: Ramshot TAC loaded to...

    TAC for 6.5 Creedmoor?

2ndtimer: It seems like it has been a bit of a weird winter. I'm in the Spokane area. Have seen the "big coyote" tracks at Rustler's Gulch Wildlife Area and around the Colville NF. We don't have them yet where we are but have plenty of mountain lions.

    TAC for 6.5 Creedmoor?

I didn't either. Since I live in eastern Washington it's probably going to be awhile before I can test in warm weather. I'm not really worried about it though. This is basically a cheap target and possibly coyote load so it should be adequate for those purposes.

    TAC for 6.5 Creedmoor?

I was able to get out and test the TAC powder with the 90 gr Speer TNT bullets today. Results were better than expected. Load data: 6.5 Creedmoor 90 gr Speer TNT bullets Win LRP Hornady Brass, 4X fired, Full length sized, trimmed to 1.911 inches Powder: Ramshot TAC loaded to 38.0, 39.0, and...

    TAC for 6.5 Creedmoor?

Mr. Flintstone (and everyone): Thanks for running those numbers and opinions. It looks like I'm safe using those charge weights since the max pressure for the 6.5 Creedmoor is 62,000 PSI. What program is that? I didn't know if TAC would be good for 6.5 Creedmoor but I have an open pound, some...

    TAC for 6.5 Creedmoor?

Mr. Flintstone: Speer data lists an OAL of 2.700" for this bullet. That only has about .13" in the case. That doesn't seem like there will be enough neck tension so I was going to try to seat it about .25" in the case for an OAL of about 2.600". I appreciate your help.

    TAC for 6.5 Creedmoor?

Has anyone tried TAC in the 6.5 Creedmoor? I was thinking of trying it with the Speer 90 gr TNT bullet. Ramshot does not list any load data for TAC but Sierra and Hornady do, sort of. Sierra has their 85 gr HP starting at 36.5 gr TAC (2900 fps) maxing at 42.0 gr (3300 fps). Hornady has their...

    6.5cm lands

Were the bullets Nosler Custom Competition 140 gr. BTHP by any chance? I had the same issue in my Bergara B14 HMR. Had a box of 100 Custom Competitions and measurements made me think I had a short throat. Developed a very good load and bought a box of 1000. Loaded to same OAL. Load didn't...

    Selling a 30/06 to buy a 6.5 Creedmoor

I have 2 Bergara's in 6.5 Creedmoor and I would not hesitate to recommend them. The fit, finish, smoothness, trigger, shootability, precision, etc. seems very good for the price points they hit. The first one I bought was an early B-14 HMR. I've had zero problems with it. It is easy to...

CVA Scout V2 TD .44 Magnum

Nice shooting gun! What bullet weight were you using? I've read a few reports that these .44 magnum CVAs love 300 grain bullets. I'm looking at one in .44 magnum at the local gun shop but all I have on the reloading bench is 240s. I don't want to have to try to find 300s during this panic.

Making light loads of .44 Mag. for my son to shoot??

I see you have Bullseye on hand, which is important to consider during this panic/shortage. I have had great luck with 6.0 grains of Bullseye under a 240 grain coated SWC in .44 magnum brass. Both my revolvers (Ruger SBH Hunter, S&W 69) and my Marlin 1894 shoot this load really well. It's a...

    gun powder observation.

Check Graf's. They have H4350 in 1 pound cans. Limit 10. Relatively cheap hazmat and flat rate shipping. They also have Ramshot Hunter in stock which I have used with success with 140 gr bullets in the 6.5 Creedmoor. It's about $5 cheaper per pound than H4350 but I don't know if it has the...

    cowboy loads for 44 magnum

6.0 grains of Bullseye under a 240 gr SWC is extremely mild and very accurate out of my Ruger SBH and Marlin 1894. I now prefer powder coated bullets over lubed lead but have had good luck with this charge weight under 240 gr plated bullets. For me this is truly an "all day" shooting load...

SAVAGE FVSR The Good The Bad & The ugly

Great guns with cheap stocks. Put a Mueller APV mil dot scope on mine, Boyd's unfinished stock with a custom camo job by the wife, and DIP bottom metal. It's no problem to hit golf balls at 100 yards and coffee cans at 200 yards with it.

    light .44's

I agree with the Trail Boss suggestion. Turns the .44 mag into an easy shooter. I have also found that a soft cast 240 grain SWC over 6.0 grains of Bullseye to be a really pleasant and accurate shooter out of my .44s. It is an all day shooter in my Ruger SBH and recoil/noise is practically...

School me on rifles in 38/357

"I have a Marlin in .38/.357. The accuracy with .38 spl. is poor. .357 mag loads are accurate and fun to shoot." This is my experience too. And they are very hungry little guns. It's really easy to burn through a couple of hundred rounds with mine during an afternoon plinking session.

    loading for a 44 carbine

Occasional lurker here and first time poster. . . . I have found that my .44 1894 definitely has preferences in what loads it likes, leading to a few frustrating loading/range sessions. That being said for a target and plinking load it does seem to really like 240 grain lead, coated and...
