Yes, that must be it! Thanks so much. I have been puzzling over this way too long.

Help me ID this missing screw...

I have a Marlin 1894 Cowboy Limited and one of the screws must have backed out and gotten lost, so I'm looking to replace it but I can't seem to figure out what it is, even having looked at parts diagrams. So I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable would be able to tell just by looking at it.

Advice re. .308/7.62 guns and ammo.

Here you go Swampman. Seems like the majority are Lake City. But there are quite a few of those Israeli ones, including the ones that were bad around 80-83. Hope the issue wasn't the casings, but no one seems to know. And the ones on the far right appear not to be reloads.

Sure, I can do that Swapman. Not sure when, but I'll make a note.

Dogmush, yeah, that's not a terrible idea actually. I'll keep it in mind. Thanks.

Advice re. .308/7.62 guns and ammo.

Okay, well, I think everyone has talked this one out well enough. I appreciate the opinions and knowledge. I couldn't have made the same arguments in my own head because I don't have the experience you guys do. That's why I love this kind of place. Very helpful. Thanks a bunch! I think I will go...

Here are a couple of the labels.

Advice re. .308/7.62 guns and ammo.

I wouldn't say there's nothing to be scared of when you're basically making small explosives. Haven't you heard of the guys that loaded their rounds too hot and blew up their guns?

Advice re. .308/7.62 guns and ammo.

Bart B. - Yes, I keep hearing that it's safe enough in certain rifles, presumably with very strong actions, but is the BM 59 similar? 200 Apples - Of course you're right, about shooting with a purpose. I just always have in mind how dangerous it is. Like driving, I suppose.

Advice re. .308/7.62 guns and ammo.

Yes, there is all the information you could want on the labels: powder, case, primer, etc. Some of them seem accurate, but he always seemed to stress that whenever he gave me a box of something, to go by the headstamps, so I started ignoring the labels. And some of them are reused cardboard...

Advice re. .308/7.62 guns and ammo.

Nah, I already gave the reloading stuff to my brother. If he figures it out, maybe I'll let him teach me.

Advice re. .308/7.62 guns and ammo.

Very interesting thoughts there. I haven't properly counted, but we're talking 1,500 to 2,000 rounds, probably. And I did know the guy pretty well. He wasn't the most tidy in his ways, but seemed to take the most care when dealing with this stuff. The only thing that would concern me is if he...

Advice re. .308/7.62 guns and ammo.

Hmmm, I really didn't expect the idea of getting rid of it all. I know that these were the only two rifles that he would have been loading for, because I got the whole collection. I don't reload and don't want to get into it. How easy is it to pull the bullets, anyway?

Advice re. .308/7.62 guns and ammo.

I'm not worried about the pressures. .308 chambers and 7.62 chambers are slightly different, and that's the issue I'm worried about.

Advice re. .308/7.62 guns and ammo.

So I inherited a .308 bolt action and a Beretta BM59 chambered for 7.62, and a bunch of handloaded ammunition along with them. I'm confused and concerned because while every single box is labeled .308, only some of the headstamps state .308, but most are foreign headstamps, most with the NATO...

    AR forward assist plug?

Lots and lots of opinions on this! I guess I would rather have the FA, just in case. It wouldn't hurt. Gunny, it's all put together already, so as soon as I get that part in, it'll be ready to go. Assuming it's as easy as I hope.

    AR forward assist plug?

Looks good. Am I going to need a roll pin, too, or not?

    AR forward assist plug?

Kwg020, that's what I do with everything else, so why not this? :)

    AR forward assist plug?

Yeah, weight will have no bearing on my decision. Just wondering what is more functionable, or necessary. Don't really care what it looks like, either.

    AR forward assist plug?

I've got an AR that someone was building for me, and he passed away before he could finish it. The only thing that's missing is the part for the forward assist. I know he was going to get a plug for it, so I guess that's what I should get. Are they all the same size and it doesn't really matter...
