What bolt catch are you using? If it is a lever one making it ambidextrous and the bolt locks when using the charging handle I start to suspect interference with the shooter.
Bolt catch spring and plunger installed correctly?
Only other thing I'm thinking is the gas port is not aligned...
I understand what you are saying but given the tolerance of headspace and the known flaws with this system (deviation between known values) I am choosing to omit brass spring back and lube from the equation. I know what you are saying and know that neck sized brass will eventually need to be...
Completely agree with this statement!
Going back to the above statement, and why this is more a relative value for our purposes than a defining limitation if you will. Work with what you got right?
Hi Ron,
Very informative and I appreciate the time you took for the write up.
I intend to use the data obtained to set up a sizing die which would eliminate the need to measure a known value and compare them.
I do see the value in this if I wanted to know the rifles actual values, but even...
Hi Guys,
I've been here to ask questions and lurk so I figured I'd share some data.
A friend of mine recently purchased a Savage 10/110 BA Stealth (https://www.savagearms.com/firearms/model/BAStealth) and I've been helping him work a load up for it.
A case gauge along with trial and error...
I've been vacuuming up spilled powder from forgetting to push the handle forward to seat a primer and other mishaps... no fires yet so I'm either lucky or it's an accident waiting to happen. I wouldn't think the static electricity would be enough to create the spark needed but I could be wrong.
I hear you and I've read that before. Thing is I didn't have any powders on the bench and reached for the wrong one in a fog. I've got a 15 month old who is protesting sleep at the moment. Lesson learned.
Swapped out tool heads on my 550 today to load some 223. Loaded the powder funnel with CFE-223 and then some in the RCBS Chargemaster. Wasn't looking for anything special, just wanted the gun to cycle and have some plinking rounds. Worked up using Hornady's load data with the chargemaster and...
Hahaha yes, the Wife quickly vetoed the oven... ordered a dryer, thank you for all the replies. Always good to check in before shelling out money for something that is a flop.
Its beginning to get cooler here in New England and with the shorter days finding time to dry brass with sunshine is going to be tough.
Has anyone used the Hornady Dryer or another that they'd recommend?
Stepped up to 5.6 and had no failure to feeds or failure to ejects. Slide locked on an empty Mag. I looked at the Lyman Manual and see this is still a light load but I am using WSP Primers, not CCI. Being new I'm trying to stick to the book.
Took some pics of my Primers after seeing a mark. Any...
Thanks Guys,
I'll check the Lyman manual as well. I saw Hodgdons data for the berry's. Weird how there is such a deviation. Just trying to take it slow and be safe. I appreciate all the help. Will update this thread after moving up in charge weight with results.
Hi Guys,
Couple more questions for you...
I'm using Hornady's 9th Reloading Manual for 9mm and have tried 5.1 and 5.4 grains of HS-6 with mixed brass, Winchester Small Pistol Primers and Hornady's 124 grain XTP bullets seated to 1.06"
Issues: In my Glock 34 Gen 3 the slide is not locking back...
Where are you located? I have gauges, may be able to help you out. If I'm not close try ar15 forums, someone else may be close and willing to help out.
