    I shouldn’t bother

Nope lol. Just a Mosin I’ve been working on modernizing. Like aluminum chassis, pillars, better action screws, target barrel, and a scope mount that actually works. Really has no practical purpose other than I just wanted to do it.

    I shouldn’t bother

I try to be as practical as possible. Trends and politics aside, my weapons are just tools for a specific purpose. Carry guns, ARs, full size pistols, bolt actions, it doesn’t matter. I have them will a particular purpose in mind for each.

    Deburring flash holes???

I’ve never noticed any performance difference. I still do it since it’s just a one time thing, but it hasn’t made any measurable difference in anything I’ve seen personally

Harris vs Caldwell bipod products - opinions/observations?

The Harris is sturdier. Has a little more weight to it. The swivel lock locks a little better to imo. The Caldwell is cheaper...never had a problem on a .308. I probably wouldn’t use it for a magnum though, I like to load the bipod, I don’t know if I trust the legs if extended out all the way...

Rx Shooting glases for prone/scope shooting

Oakley. My dad uses ballistic eye wear from them with rx. Oakley were the gold standard choice for deployment from my own personal experience.

Safe way to draw a 1911 in condition 1 by a left hander - part 2

Condition one is the only way to really carry. Carrying any other way is extremely amateur or a soon to be victim in the rare event you need that weapon in a fight. This is true regardless of make and model or single, striker and da/sa.

Are shorter barrels capable of being more accurate than long ones?

Any barrel contact, other than its being screwed into a totally stress free bedded receiver will affect harmonics differently from what harmonics would be if the barrel were truly fully free floated. The actual droop wouldn’t be an issue. Plenty of bench guys use a 30” 1.25 dia barrel. Droop...

    5.56 Suppressor for 11.5" SBR?

What’s your preferred overall length with combining barrel and can? Also how much do you care about muzzle velocity?

Pics Only: Lowest cost knife you might consider for EDC if your life depended on it

I would rely on a pencil if I absolutely had to. However in terms of cost to quality, I’m surprised cold steel isn’t on there. More then $10 but they have fairly good and inexpensive options.

Are shorter barrels capable of being more accurate than long ones?

Goes back to the accuracy vs precision debate on another thread and the why to distinguish the difference

Are shorter barrels capable of being more accurate than long ones?

It’s like leverage. To have more leverage, the handle on your lever so to speak should be longer. The longer the barrel the more the whip. Thicker diameter barrels, about .99 to 1 inch are great for reducing that whip and have more more consistency with harmonics assuming the barrel is free and...

Hornady standing up against New York

It’s besides the point. It would be nice, however unrealistic as business’s go, if those competitors followed Hornady’s lead. It’s the statement being made that, really effects the bigger picture, and a show of force that gun companies (or related) are willing to stand up for themselves and not...

Hornady standing up against New York

Wasn’t sure if this was the appropriate forum but since I’m not advocating anything, I thought maybe it best in general guns rather than activism. Just posting the information. It’s good to know that at least one company in the gun community will fight back against city and state attempts at...

The days of sniffing the dirt ain't over.

Like I said, it’s the constant to a .308. The BC method probably works more legitimate however buy using your rounding to your nearest tenth on on your bc which is how a lot of us theorized where the constant stemmed from in the first place

The days of sniffing the dirt ain't over.

The 4 is merely a math constant for the greener formula that no one uses anymore. It’s specific to the .308. The question is why would you use a formula to calculate for headwind/tailwind when your issue is a crosswind

The days of sniffing the dirt ain't over.

Collecting information on that rifle. It’s good to know when the ol kestrel goes out how to manually make adjustments. The idea is to make documentation with your instrument, since kestrel can be pretty close to exact and write it down. That includes head/tail wind and and speed. Calculate...

    Why accuracy, not precision?

While like most people say on here, the terms accuracy and precision are used interchangeably to measure how precise a gun preforms, the terms have literal meaning...just like clip and magazine. Because there are actual clips made for rifles and a boxed magazine is exactly that. A gun can be...

So I bought this Tikka. Now what?

I agree with you when it comes to factory barrels. However for premium barrels including the current m40 barrels, made my Gary Schneider‘s company Schneider Barrels over in AZ, are generally hand lapped pretty well. So there tends to be less to no machine burrs to workout in general. However...
