I like the ESEE-6-CP a lot personally. The micarta scales it comes with by default are in no way bad, but I replaced them with the ones in the picture because I prefer G10.
The plastic sheath however I'm not a big fan of but if you have money to splurge (I have a hard time justifying it myself)...
So true. I can acknowledge the utility of the polymer guns, but I don't know that I'll ever appreciate one the way I do a revolver (the semiautomatic guy's did sell me on the 1911 though).
It would be nice to have more options for the 45 Colt Redhawks, that's for sure.
As far as other chamberings I wish that they would bring over the 454 Casull and the 480 Ruger to the regular Redhawk.
I was just curious to know what is everyone's favorite chambering for the Redhawk. It just has so many nice options. If I had them all I'm not sure I'd be able to pick.
Currently though all I've got is the 45 Colt/ACP Redhawk so I guess it wins for me.
Outstanding point by Dr. Tyson from a truly logical standpoint.
If I was going to argue against the point I would do it based on the growth rate of incidence. It would be more along the lines of: this has the potential to be a substantial problem and we should be proactive about preventing...
Yeah I wasn't impressed with our local media coverage. I watched one lady try to explain that a rifle is different than an AR (her idea of a rifle sounded like a scoped bolt action rifle maybe), not realizing that rifle is in fact a very broad category of firearm that encompasses the AR...
Here in El Paso, it's pretty strongly anti-gun. So even though it's Texas, there's not as many people packing as you might think.
Patrick Crusius is apparently the suspect in custody, his weapon was a rifle and if the picture was in fact him then yes it was something resembling an AK-47...
So many people using HS-6. The only load I've been able to use it for that burned an acceptable amount of the powder (in my opinion) was some 300 grn loads from the hogdon website. The 255's I tried it with had powder pouring out of the cases.
On a more helpful note, Clay's is basically my...
That sounds like a rough choice. 357 magnum out of my GP100 can be fun, but I really love the 327 in theory (haven't had a chance to shoot one yet). Honestly I'd probably have to flip a coin.
I won't argue about the design being great for an optic. I would however like a more normal looking Ruger in 454 or 480 like a Redhawk or a Super GP100 as I have no intention of slapping an optic on it.
I'm just excited for the possibility to get a Ruger in 454 or 480 that doesn't have that awful barrel. Also I think I could like this platform more than the regular Redhawk as well, but that's a not nearly as big of a deal. As for the current offering... Well I'm sure it's useful but it's not...
I'd love for them to bring the Super Redhawk lineup over to the new Super GP100. Also I agree with the million other people that want a platform between the GP100 and the Redhawk.
So I currently only have 3 powders:
Clay's
Unique
HS-6
Out of these I've had pretty decent performance in 45 Colt with the first 2. HS-6 was all unburned and made a huge mess. I'm just curious will the performance of various powders generally translate from 45 Colt to 45 ACP?
I ordered the mixed primer pocket brass from RMR and overall I have to say I'm pretty impressed. Out of the whole batch of a thousand 45 ACP I only found three 45 GAP and not a single steel or aluminium case.
As far as the assortment of head stamps S&B comes in first place, Winchester comes in...
So far here's the list:
GP100 Match Champion 357 Magnum
Redhawk 45 Colt/ACP
SR1911 45 ACP
Taurus G2C 9mm
Heritage Rough Rider 22lr
Yeah a Mossberg 500 and an AR-10 in 6.5 Creedmoor were on the top of my list until the news of potentially moving somewhere with such restrictive handgun laws...
Yeah the goal on that gun store trip was 1911, the Ruger just happened to be the nicest one in stock (there was a stainless R1 that was nice too but it was about $100 more).
I saw, and those were nice. As far as a range report I'm not sure that I'm qualified for a full blown review of the gun...
Finally added a 1911 to the family. The SR1911 wasn't the cheapest one at the gun store, but it wasn't a bad deal and it sure is pretty. Also featured are my two Ruger revolvers so that the 1911 didn't have to feel lonely.
