I'm just excited for the possibility to get a Ruger in 454 or 480 that doesn't have that awful barrel. Also I think I could like this platform more than the regular Redhawk as well, but that's a not nearly as big of a deal. As for the current offering... Well I'm sure it's useful but it's not attractive.

What I believe many miss is that that “ugly” frame extension allows for mounting an optic while leaving the irons sighted in and ready to go. It’s a brilliant design that isn’t lost on lots of handgun hunters.

I used to agree that they were ugly but bought one because I wanted the .480. What I realized was that within its aesthetic challenges lay a huge advantage in utility for a hunting handgun. For I greatly prefer mounting the optic over the frame and the SRH allows you to do that without losing the iron sights. That, coupled with their extreme strength, sickening accuracy and comfortable grips, I simply can't call them ugly any more. In fact, I think they are one of the finest sixguns available.

Actually, the more.i look at it the more I like the idea of adding one to my collection, I'd prefer a full lug barrel like my 5" geepee...... And in a larger caliber....

Red barrel (black shroud), red fiber optic bead, red trigger and hammer, red cylinder release and ejector rod, black hogue no finger groove grip . Would match that rifle pretty well.

I won't argue about the design being great for an optic. I would however like a more normal looking Ruger in 454 or 480 like a Redhawk or a Super GP100 as I have no intention of slapping an optic on it.

Exactly there MaxP, it may be an "ugly" feature of the SRH but it's a useful feature.

And most of your paycheck (present and future).
Yep! Emailed my companies HR guy for insurance quotes for family plan. He gave me a price. I responded does that cover heart attacks? Cause I'm about to have one LOL. It's all good though. Goin to be mostly .22's for a while I think!

Hey even 22s is better than nothing and better than what I had.

From Summer of 1990 until late 2012 I bought 3 firearms (for myself) and shot about 3 or 4 times/year. Having 1 kid is time consuming and expensive and we had two of 'em. Now trying to make up for lost time. But somehow managed to pay off a mortgage during that time.

Seems to me that most are too focused on this specific configuration. This is actually a significant step for Ruger. I'm looking at the big picture and wondering what else may be in the pipeline, such as a factory version of the Bowen GP44
That was s a good point. Hey his particular offering doesn’t interest me but a breed of this gun in 44 would.

I think the name is all that through me off.

That has "gamer gun" written all over it.

Coming from me, that's not an insult.
