You should have notified the police or maybe animal control. To draw on someone, or something in this case, is a violation of the concealed part of concealed carry. That might be a difficult thing to explain if a witness saw you and not the dog and then phoned the police.
Naturally, the men...
Thank You All!
You have all been a great help here.
There were two votes for the Model 642 on this thread so I decided to check them out. I read the 642 club thread.
Not the whole thing of course, but seeing as how I don't think that many people could be wrong I picked this up from Top...
Thank you all. As usual, you guys do not disappoint. I emailed a link to this thread to my wife. More than likely we will go today and purchase the gun.
I am leaning more towards the Aluminum model. The extra $400 is just hard to justify, and it would buy a lot of ammo.
I know one, but he is my brother so I don't think he counts.
Or maybe he counts twice since I know him so well.
Or maybe it counts against me since I wish I didn't know him. :D
Yeah, I probably should Trebor.
The only thing that makes me want to do something is what if my wife and I weren't experienced shooters or what if a woman had come into that store after being threatened and made the decision to purchase a gun. This might be the first encounter with gun...
I have owned 2 HK USP .45s and I just love them. I have had several failure to feeds though using the Pro Mag 20 round magazines.
Never have I had a malfunction using the 12 round factory magazines with factory ammo.
This is the gun that stays on my bedside table...
Yes, blutarsky, the store on I45 North is the one I went to last night.
If you have been there then you know who I am talking about. This guy is really young and it shows.
There is an older gentleman there with a beard that is very helpful, but he wasn't there tonight, much to my dismay.
Thank you gentleman. I will be purchasing the gun from Top Gun near where I work.
It really makes me mad when those behind the counter invent problems to dissuade people from buying the guns they want. I think I will write the manager.
I went into Gander Mountain in North Houston today to purchase an S&W Model 638.
My wife was with me as the revolver was going to be for her. She liked it due to the light weight and the great way it fit into her purse.
The clerk, who was the quintessential gun store commando, told her...
Okay. Here is a previous thread on various .30 calibers.

Here is another one that seemed to have some good opinions in it.

What are you planning on hunting "out west". I haven't seen too many deer that could take a punch from a .30-06 and not end up on the dinner table.
In fact, you need not even go that large if you will only be hunting deer.
Just remember..... It is not the size of the curling iron that is important.... It is where you hit your attacker. :D
Curling iron placement is everything.
I just sent him a little note. I couldn't find an email address, so I filled out a comment form on the website. Hopefully, it will find its way to him.
I am a pipe line controller for an oil company here in Houston. I manage the flow of oil from offshore platforms to various terminals and refineries around the Gulf of Mexico.
Hopefully, I will one day own my own smokehouse and BBQ for a living. :D
1 shot stopper
Oh yeah. But you have to understand that my level of experience with firearms back in '99-'00, which was the year of that particular deployment, was next to nothing.
I remember being surprised at, what I thought at the time at least, an antiquated firearm being used by such...
Navbell.... I haven't heard that in forever. Yeah those batteries were the only souvenir that I took when I left. I was that anxious to leave.
Those, my sea bag, and some beach pictures from St. Martin (the French side) that I don't show anybody. :what: Unless, of course, it's to prove that...
Cosmoline
I was only in the Navy and did not work with SF from the other branches. I would have to say that any fascination with them, at least on the part of us swabees with normal jobs, was that they were the tip of the spear.
Personally, I really admired them for what they did. They were...
Gas Storage?
What additives are needed for gas storage?
I live in The Woodlands (Houston) and store gas for my back up generator. I know I have at least 10 gallons left from preparations for last hurricane season. Is this gas no longer usable?
You know John its funny you say that. I think there must be a lot of frustration being in the teams.
When I was on the Kennedy I asked one of the Seals what it was like. He told me it was "like trainining every day for the Super Bowl, then not getting to play".
