Is .243 Win useful for anything besides hunting?

Thanks Zak. It was your articles on the .260/6.5mm cartridges that got me interesting in the .260. It is obviously a great round for tactical precision shooting. I just had never really put pen to paper before to see in practical terms what the superior ballistics of the 6mm/6.5mm gave me...

Is .243 Win useful for anything besides hunting?

I have been studying and changing my mind regarding calibers for precision long range shooting. I had all but convinced myself to go 260 Remington vs. .243 Winchester with the main trade-off being barrel life vs. recoil. However, I recently watched a video regarding .308 vs. 243 where 8451...

    AICS Question

Which AICS magazine would handle 7mm Remington Magnum rounds. I see a couple different sizes. I am guessing the mags for the .300 Win Mag? Thanks.

    .338-06 or .338 mag

I was wondering about whether to get a .338-06 or to just buy a .338 mag and download it most of the time. Who makes .338-06 chambered rifles? I like the .338-06 cartridge from a ballistics standpoint. I don't really need full power .338 and don't really want to deal with the recoil. I...

    P2000sk

I have a USP Compact .45, but was looking for a smaller carry. I love the USP. I guess I have been a sleep at the wheel, but I didn't realize that the P2000sk (the sub compact version, not the P2000 which isn't that much different in size from a USP compact). was available. This seems like...

    Rifle Cartridge OAL Question

I have reloaded my first 7mm mag loads and have a question about my COL. I used fired cases from my gun and neck sized only. Using a Stoney Point headspace gage, the various cartridges are a dimension from case head to shoulder at the point defined by the headspace gage of 2.123 inches. The...

Kel-Tec .380, what are the FACTS?

Hold on Tight I got a used p-3at at a gunshow for 150 dollars. Found out that the magazine wouldn't stay in the gun under recoil. I took it apart and found the magazine catch was worn a little. I called kel-tec and asked them to send me a new magazine catch and new catch spring. They asked...

How much for a Kel-Tec P3AT in your area ?

I got mine for $140 used at a gun show. However, this was a single shot version :D . It seems the magazine was just for show and wouldn't stay in the gun under recoil . I just received the replacement mag stop and mag stop spring and installed them. Hopefully will test it out again tomorrow.

    Used k-9 price check

I found a used Kahr k9, matte stainless steel, two mags (one 7 round and one 8 round extended), with night sites on consignment. Owner is asking 485. It looked to be in good shape. Trigger was very nice. What do you think? Thanks.

Burris Scout scope on Marlin Guide Gun

I bought the Burris 2.75X scout scope and want to mount it to my Marlin Guide Gun. I will use the XS System's scout mount to mount the scope forward of the receiver. I just don't know what rings to buy. Obviously, it's a weaver style mount, but what height of rings is recommended? Low, or...

    Super Redhawk .454 Accuracy

Do the Super Redhawk .45Colt/.454 Casull revolvers suffer from the same accuracy problems that other Ruger .45 Colt revolvers suffer from. I believe this accuracy problem is reportedly due to undersized cylinder throats. I know my vaquero has tight throats as it is very difficult to push a...

    Federal Ballisticlean Brass

I have some saved Ballisticlean brass that I was thinking of reloading. I am new to reloading. This Ballisticlean brass is for .38 special. I can't get the primer to go into the pocket. I am using CCI small pistol primers. I started looking at it and think that maybe it is crimped. How...

    First Reloads a Success

I went to the range today to try out my first batch of reloads for my .45 colt - Ruger Vaquero. I had 100 rounds using various charge weights. No duds and they were way more accurate than anything I have shot through that gun before. I had almost given up on the gun because I just couldn't...

    RCBS Scale Zero Problem

I have found that my zero drifts rather rapidly. I have determined that the problem is caused by slight vibrations on the bench causing the adjustment screw to change position. Any suggests about how to increase the friction on the threads while still allowing adjustments to be made without...

    New RCBS Press Problem

I fixed it After writing the question and posting I decided to give that set screw a closer look. It turns out that one of the allen wrenches that came with the kit fit the screw so I pulled the set screw from the bottom of the ram, pushed out the pivot pin, rotated the ram, put everything...

    New RCBS Press Problem

I'm having a hard time understanding how this happened, but my new press seems to have left the factory assembled incorrectly. The ram is rotated 180 degrees so that it is in the wrong orientation. In other words the slot in the ram that goes all the way to the top is facing away from me on...

    Measuring Case Length

I just got a digital caliper in order to start reloading. Just for curiosity I took out some .38 spl cases that I had saved. I decided to try out the calipers by measuring the overall length of the case. What I don't get is that all the cases are about 1.145 inches instead of the 1.155...

Question about Palm Pilot Carry This is a little off the topic but I have always had a problem with gun carry in something that looks like something else. What if someone asks you to see what the palm pilot looks like. You know, "Hey, what model do you have there?", kind of thing. If I...

    USPc .45 recoil

Recoil isn't bad I have a 1911 government 45, a CZ 97B, and a USPc .45. It does recoil more than the other two, but I don't find it bad. You can still shoot fairly rapidly and stay on the paper. The biggest thing i notice is that the muzzle rotates up a bit more than the others since all the...
