Thank you @WVsig However, I haven't found one yet. And the one business that offers one doesn't seem legit. If you come across one, it would be greatly appreciated if you let me know.
Hi there,
Can anyone point me to the right person/business/etc where I can get an original leather case for a Hi-Power? Believe it or not, I haven't been able to find one.
P.S. The gun in this pictures is not mine, I simply downloaded the picture for illustration purposes.
@WVsig thank you very much for such useful information, I really appreciate it. I have shot the gun and it is in perfect working conditions. It comes with two (2) not-orginal mags.
My plan is to buy it cheap and send it to a gunsmith to try to get it to its original condition.
P.S. Any idea...
Howdy Highroaders,
I was offered the following Hi-Power (given the low serial number (51542), I believe it may be from the 1950s or earlier). It's current shape/design is horrible but it will make a great restoration project. If after seeing the pictures you have more questions, please let me know.
Thank you @jar if you pay close attention, it seems to be "broken" but I have seen other FN1910's alike. Do you know why is it like that? And, is this a threaded barrel? ..... it looks like so.
Howdy friends,
I am being offered the following FN Model 1910 and need your help to determine the year it was made as well as an approximate reasonable price (pictures attached).
P.S. Can someone explain to me the purpose/reason of the tip of the barrel/bushing design?
Thank you and have a...
Hello @Mr. Zorg,
I came across some of your responses on another Mauser-related blog and thought you may have an opinion regarding my post :)
I'd really appreciate any feedback about the markings, the history of the rifle itself, etc. Here's a new question. If this is indeed a 7x57 Mauser in...
@ATLDave Thx again. I didn't mean I got bitten by the hammer; rather, because of the gun kicking back so hard, it hurt my hand right where the Beaver tail is at. I even added a Houge grip but didn't help at all. In sum, this is not the right gun for me (my hands). I rather find a...
@ATLDave thx. I've tried that too and it helps just a bit. Now, after 2000 rounds I can tell that the spring has given up just a bit. This is a VERY HARD gun to rack and shoot. Yes, it is beautiful and operates flawlessly; HOWEVER, it is a tough one.
Hi Everyone,
I recently posted the following message about what I believe is a M24. However, I would like so triple check the following: https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/help-with-1924-mauser-made-for-the-mexican-army.877977/#post-11704357
1. Is this truly a M24 Mauser and not a...
@indy1919a4 Do you know how to interpret the stamps/markings on this Mauser? I was reading that although it has a 1924 stamp under the Mexican crest, it may be a M30. I want to double check ;)
Hello Dave,
Thank you very much for your insight. If I may, I have a couple of additional questions I'd appreciate your help answering:
1. Is this Mauser a FN Model 24? FN Model 24 series? Can you help me narrow down the precise model?
2. How can I verify the firing pin is working? I've tried...
Hi @indy1919a4, Yes, the plate on the stock has the name of a General of the Mexican Army. I did some research on Wikipedia and it seems this General was also the Governor of the state of "Queretaro".....interesting story.
Howdy!
I am being offered this 1924 Mexican FN Herstal (Belgium-made) Mauser. However, I need help identifying the precise model and caliber (I suspect it is a 7x57 Mauser). Can I please request your help identifying these variables? Also, how much do you expect this Mauser be worth?
P.S. I...
@Driftwood Johnson thank you for the detailed explanation as well as for the URLs.
Have you fired any of the .38 rounds you have mentioned with your Colt Army Special?
Hello @entropy.
I was able to find the year it was manufactured by using the serial number on Colt’s website.
As for the Model, 1) it clearly states so on the barrel, and 2) when searching on Colt’s website, the output states it is an Army Special.
@Monac what I meant is in regards to their fragility due to their age and not so much to the material.
If someone can confirm that nothing will happen when removing the original grips, I may feel inclined to do so.
