Just got a new Teslong Bore Scope

That looks great! JB/Kroil treatment really seems to be the secret sauce, at least from repeated testimony I've read (and obviously your results). If it helps reduce how time consuming it can be getting that hard carbon out, I'm all in for it. 👍 I use cheap wallyworld "carb cleaner" myself...

Just got a new Teslong Bore Scope

Strangely enough... Might not be able to expect the first couple on a fresh clean bore to behave. Residue from cleaning agents etc... I'll run a dry patch or two through the bore before shooting, but still need a couple shots off target. Many (me included) load a few spare rounds as "foulers"...

Just got a new Teslong Bore Scope

Hard carbon on the lands and corners of the grooves and a bit of copper. Time consuming to remove. I have my methods as does everyone else and their Uncle, no clear answer there other than a dedicated carbon only cleaner and fresh bronze brushes. One direction only brushing, or back and forth...

    Bench scope

Nice setup. I need a bolt again, somehow my meager collection transformed to all semi's, well except for my O/U.

    Bench scope

My plan was to have one of these by this spring to swap out my current Athlon, but you know what happened to the mice's plans... One of the very few that upfront specify glass which is invaluable to me. I want to know exactly what I'm buying besides a bunch of pretty words and "promises".

    How many rounds?

Should have at least another 1500 rounds to go before even considering barrel life. Copper remover is fine, but Hoppes No9 is ...nostalgic... to put it nicely. You have to get the hard carbon out, all of it, and carbon just laughs at Hoppes. I have my method as do others and everyone else...

    GOOD GUN GREASE...

The benefits of Mobil 1 synthetic grease (synthetic in general) are hard to ignore. Higher flash point, superior lubricity and film strength, and consistent molecular size. Now I just mix synthetic ATF with the Mobil 1 grease in a restaurant style condiment bottle and use that wherever...

    Build a AR?

Sometimes overlooked, the hammer spring legs are in the groove on top of the trigger pin to hold it in place, and maybe stake the castle nut on the buffer tube. You'll need to experiment with the tension screw to see what works best for you, no idea if AERO suggests any procedure with it.

    Build a AR?

You know nothing about me, especially to make any sort of determination. You do you buttercup, I don't need your help.

    Build a AR?

For lube they do like to run "wet" and it's easy to spend a lot of money fast on trying different ones. MGL (machine gun lube) is a "secret" formula that's been around for decades. Usually ATF mixed with some other ingredient depending on who you are talking to. Generally speaking Moly of some...

    Build a AR?

Buying a "inexpensive" rifle to play with may or may not be less expensive depending on expectations. Would you accept a strictly utilitarian rifle of Mil-spec function and accuracy of up to 3" at 100yd? If not that would be a new barrel and bolt to do it right. While you're at that don't...

Shot my carry pistol at 50 and 100yds.

Lucky... I got a hard NO about bringing my steel to the club range. The Prez said "the insurance" won't allow it and they ricochet. Didn't argue it with him but I'm not sure I'm buying the insurance excuse, club is pretty fuddish and I think he just doesn't want it.

    Rear bag suggestions?

I've been a casual shooter/reloader since I was 17, but decided to get serious about reloading precision and accuracy now that I'm supposed to have free time on my hands... I collected good assortment of the latest and greatest canvas bags, none of which I could make work with any sort of...

The Gun and Knife Picture Show

Western made a great blade with that series, I've had a few come and go, and regret not holding on to at least one of them.

Must I Setup a Gun Trust For NFA Items, or Does My General Estate Trust Suffice?

I have a NFA Trust and would simply add it to that, beneficiaries are already listed as a primary and secondary.

Over sized chambers on 7.62x39 weapons

Let me begin by cherry picking your words and quoting you just to set the mood, then I'll begin asking you questions instead of offering an answer to yours... It never ever fails, which is why I seldom ask questions. To suggest an answer, I think you're pretty close with old steel ammo, as...

    Who's using 85gr XTP in 7.62 Tok ?

I am not asking about reloading in general, I asked a specific question. If my OP post is read it's hard to miss that I am presently using 85gr XTP and that is what the question was about. I've also spent more time than I care to think researching and searching for suitable bullets for my...

    Who's using 85gr XTP in 7.62 Tok ?

I've finally dusted off my components and dies to load some Tok rounds. Because of the cone shape of the XTP 85gr bullets I had do some pondering to get a COL length to start with. There is ZERO possibility of loading them to the CIP length because of the flat nose. Also the seating stem does...

Whats your pick for vibratory tumbler?

Yes it does, pretty ingenious system actually. All 3 legs on the bowl are identical so orientation doesn't matter. Flip the latch up, push the bowl back to disengage the other two feet and lift the bowl off. Everything is rubber mounted and seems solidly put together. I didn't particularly...

Whats your pick for vibratory tumbler?

Well the verdict is in, I had a hunch that Cabelas/Basspro were the same thing as Berrys (except color) but this confirms it. Lower left the instructions indicate to register warranty with Berrys . Pretty good deal for $20 less and free shipping, plus I like the green. Per usual, there was a...
