Real World Handgun Load Efficacy Data?

Do you think its possible Sanow was publishing the data given to him? Maybe he was fed false information?

Real World Handgun Load Efficacy Data?

No, I didn't bother to read it. I really don't care enough one way or another, I was just messing with you. I do however think that you are jumping to conclusions, just because there are a couple of questionable items, the whole entire report should not be discounted IMO.

the IWBA is not even a creditable organization! unless we are talking about the Injured Workers' Bar Association or the International Waterfowl Breeders Association

    .22LR vs .22 WMR?

The 22mag has the same power at 100 yards, as a 22lr has at the muzzle...need I say more;)

.22 WMR ? No place in SD?

To answer the OP...Yes, it has a place in SD as does the 22 LR IMHO The 22 LR is probably equally effective as a 25acp, or 32acp on the intended target.

.22 WMR ? No place in SD?

Paul Harrell was doing one of his videos and had a 22mag dud. It happens, just like 22lr.

They are not facts, and I am confident you do not know what you are talking about.

.22 WMR ? No place in SD?

How do you know the different smell is not from different powder? You seem to be very confident in your assumptions, and if they are facts, please provide a link.

.22 WMR ? No place in SD?

There is basically only one way to make a rimfire cartridge, and one kind of priming compound. Higher priced ammo, or higher quality ammo has more to do with the projectile, case material, and packaging. Zero difference in HOW 22mag ammo is produced. Larger case, and jacketed bullet are the...

.22 WMR ? No place in SD?

They most likely are primed the same way. Any bulk rim fire ammo will have more dudes, some of that has to do with the packaging. Maybe its an old wives tale, but I was told a long time ago that the primer compound can settle into one side of the case if its not completely full. Ever notice...

.22 WMR ? No place in SD?

I agree totally! I think most people that assume 22mag is more reliable is because they haven't shot near as many rounds of mag compared to LR so they have not seen the failures. I have had 22mag fail to go off, just like 22LR, but since it cost more than 2x I have not experienced near as many...

.22 WMR ? No place in SD?

To answer the OP...I wouldn't use a 22mag for self defense. I had a LCR in 22mag, bought it for the little lady because it was so light and small it worked great for her purse. But I sold it off, and got her a LCPII.

.22 WMR ? No place in SD?

Someone kind of did, when they compared 22mag out of a rifle blowing a nice hole in a critter. 22mag pistols won't give you that kind of velocity. Measurements for barrel lengths of 24 down to 5 inches showed that the pressure in the barrel at the moment of uncorking varied from 4,800 psi for...

9mm is making more sense in revolvers these days

Call me old fashioned, but 9mm belongs in a pistol, 38 and 357 belong in revolvers. No good reason for shooting 9mm in a revolver. If ammo cost is a problem, buy a 22 revolver to practice with. No thanks on a revolver shooting 9mm, I'll keep on carrying and shooting my G19 :)

.22 WMR ? No place in SD?

To all you guys that think your going to get rifle velocity out of a pistol length barrel, you are sadly mistaken. For those that think a longer barrel does not allow for more of the powder to burn, or at least keep the pressure up for a longer period of time, you might want to rethink that.

    Why no pump rifles?

Several guys in our hunting crew are using 760's that are well over 30 years old. I use a BAR chambered in 06 that is 50 years old.

    Why no pump rifles?

Remington 760 and 7600 rifles chambered in 06 are very popular with hunters in Maine. They are accurate, durable and light weight making them great for hunting the western Maine mountains.
