Looking at the rifle it seems like it’d had very few rounds through it before me or it was exceptionally cleaned. If I had to guess the guy who owned it first had the same problem and didn’t want to look any deeper. Factory loads I have tried were American whitetail 117, core lokt 120, federal...
my fathers m77 in 25-06 is the same way, core lokt 120s 3/4 moa all day, I'd like to try some 100 grain options but are there any bonded ones available?
That was one of fthe loads I'd tried as well as fully cleaning the barrel when I first got it. I wil try the recoil lug and screw torque and report back.
Hello highroaders,
i recently picked up a t3 in 25-06 with a vx3 4.5-14 for an absolute steal and have found the 117-120 class soft points (factory ammo) are only in the realm of 2-3 moa. Can work for a deer rifle but seems a little loose for how I've seen most tikkas shoot. Scope mounts and...
primarily whitetails with the capability to score an elk of muley hunt with potentially a great deal of walking. I really like the tikkas but that 1 in 11 twist comes across as kind of wonky. Those with them how do they stabilize the 165 and 180 grain bullets?
I have been consolidating my collection of firearms for space as i move for dental school and am moving into 2 wood stocked hunting rifles to keep long term. I currently have a sauer 100 in 6.5creed with a razor lht 3-15x42 and want to pair it up with something most likely in 30-06 or something...
I’m building a solid midrange hunting rig and I’ve started with a sauer 100 wood stocked 6.5 creed and have about $1000 to pair a good scope with it. I’ve been leaning toward a plain vx5 3-15 with cds. I’m comfortable shooting out to 500 if need be to hunt (I try to stay well within that) but...
For those out there that have howa 1500s, how has it broken in for you and how are you enjoying the rifle? They come with a pretty extensive barrel break in process they recommend, did you follow that or just go your own route? Did they get more accurate as you shot them? I just got one in 6.5...
Here we go, after hunting a week and a half straight and seeing next to nothing in stands and "ambush" hunting, my father and I decided to jump some pond dams for ducks or geese. After about a half mile walk to this pond in the flint hills of Kansas we spotted some deer on an adjacent hill. In...
