    Rem 700 barrel recommendations

I've never heard of 700 actions being cast, but I could be wrong. I'm thinking of taking to gun to him and having him run a bore scope down the barrel to to check the throat, then go from there. No need to get into truing the action, and risk a new factory take off not working correctly without...

    Rem 700 barrel recommendations

So I spoke to a local gunsmith who specializes in precision rifles. I told him my plan to use a new Remington factory take off. He stated that he wouldn't recommend using a factory take off because he couldn't guarantee that the headspacing would be correct, and he may have to set the shoulder...

    Rem 700 barrel recommendations

The stock is pillar bedded and the barrel is already free floated. Ok so I decided to just go with a new Remington factory take off for time, and money sake, for this hunting rifle. Ill let a local smith true the action, and install the new barrel with correct head spacing. If that doesnt...

    Rem 700 barrel recommendations

I've considered switching calibers to a 300 win mag. I found a new factory Remington 700 BDL take off in 300 win mag. The seller is asking $200. Is that a deal or no?

    Rem 700 barrel recommendations

Thanks for the replies. I have shot it from sandbags and the best I could average is around 2 MOA @ 100 yrds. I decided to move to the sled to take most of the human error out, and that brought it to 1.5 MOA. Call me crazy, but I believe with gun should be capable of better accuracy especially...

    Rem 700 barrel recommendations

I don't reload, but I may in the future. Obviously there's better accuracy potential with reloads. I dont have a barrel vise or go/no go gauges so I was planning on letting a smith do it. So I would say no more than $400 for the barrel itself.

    Rem 700 barrel recommendations

Greetings, I purchased a used Remington 700 BDL 7mm Rem mag on Gunbroker several months ago. I'm making this one of my primary hunting rifles, and I've modified it a little. I have no idea how many rounds the previous owner had through it, but it was fairly clean upon arrival. I replaced the...

    AG Composites vs McMillan

I called and spoke to both companies to get recommendations and pricing and this is what I was told. In fact the McMillan rep was adamant that McMillan designed their stocks to not need bedding. Apparently this was one of the requirements for the contract they won for the US Military. I dont...

    AG Composites vs McMillan

Hi everyone, I have two questions. I have a Rem 700 BDL in 7mm mag. Im replacing the stock on it, and I dont know what the factory barrel contour is. Is it the factory sporter or magnum sporter? All I know is its the factory 24" barrel. This will be primarily be a ladder tree stand hunting...

    Remington 700 LA stock question

Hello all, I'm new here, and have a quick question regarding stocks on my Rem 700 7mm mag BDL. Currently I have an old Bell & Carlson on it thats seen its share of wear and tear. The B&C does have some flex to it and I'm looking at a used Mcmillan right now. The only issue is that the Mcmillan...
