rear sight on a buffington site base?
Or does anyone know where I can get a 1903 springfield sight collar ( not sure if that is the proper name for the part or not) that I can cut off the sight base from and adapt it to fit a zouave rifle barrel?
TIA
So for a long time I have been looking to replace the less than stellar leaf sight on my 1863 zouave repop rifle. At first I installed a williams peep sight and it left me under awed. So I found this ladder sight on ebay and after filing and sanding it to match the radius of the barrel, I...
Ah heck. That wasn't so hard!
Filed the end flat again and reshaped the sear. Put it back together again and now it seems to work pretty well. It sometimes still wants to slightly catch on the half cock notch, but not as bad as it was. Overall the trigger/ lock is working much better than when...
Well ok then.
Took the lock apart again and somehow I managed to screw up the sear.
Looks like the tip of it got bent up some how. Not real sure how it happened, but I am sure that it why it is still acting up. Found a new sear and tumbler online, but I figured I would run by The Gun Works...
After further playing with this after " fixing it" it turns out the sear IS sometimes catching on the half cock notch.
I tore the lock out again but the issue of WHY this is happening isn't really obvious to my untrained eye.
Any ideas?
Try going to my name and checking my attachments.
Found the post I made when I first got the rifle with pics of it. here

Rifle was imported by navy arms and made by Antonio Zoli, not sure when it was built but I am thinking some time in the 60's.
I bought it through proxibid a bit over a year ago or so.
I posted pics back when I first got it.
Try here?

oops, that did't work.
I know I have a post...
I got it fixed!
Pull is probably less than half of what it was.
Only real problem I ran across was at first the hammer didn't always want to release all the way unless you made sure you REALLY pulled the trigger all the way back rather forcibly. It felt like the trigger was catching on the...
That is what the smith I spoke with said was happening with mine. Because the face of the sear wasn't square, it was forcing the hammer back when I pulled the trigger, adding to the overall trigger pull. So he said I should square the face off and that should help. At this point he added the...
I actually just got this torn down and was going to check if I had any responses to my thread of yesterday. Thanks for all of the responses!
I am pretty sure I can deal with it from here, but if, or when I screw it up I may be back for more input! ;)
Basically the rear notch in the sear needs...
Hi, I have had this rifle for some time now and the trigger pull is insane! I bet it is got to be in the 30lb range!
So I finely decided to deal with it today and stopped by the local BP shop for a few pointers on how best to lighten the pull.
One thing I didn't ask about however was how to...
I picked it up on proxibid. It was made in the early 70's from the markings. From looking at the inside if the barrel, it looks like it was never fired. If it was, it was fired very little. It looks to be a VERY accurate repro of the remington 1863, right down to how the spare nipple is carried...
