Anyone have a good method for marking cases for easy identification and inspection of test loads? Does marking the head with a colored sharpie pose any risk of damage to the firearm? I shoot at an indoor range and it’s not always easy to retrieve my test loads to inspect the cases after firing.

Has anyone seen cases with marks like the pictures below? I picked these up at the range—they’re not from any of my firearms. The case heads and primers don’t seem to be abnormal so I am left wondering why the odd shooting pattern.
