    Ruger and the Marlin Levergun

I wonder if they are going to investment cast the receiver and lever. Not that it would be a bad thing, I'm just curious.

Best lever gun hunting cartridge in strait wall

I finally got everything together. I picked up a Winchester 94 XTR Big Bore in .375 Winchester, and got a few boxes of Buffalo Bore cartridges. Took it all to the range today, and it was an excellent time. The cartridges push a 255 grain bullet at 2,000 fps. The rifle came with a Williams...

    Win 670 243 Win

I have read this post, as well as your other post. I do believe the .243 wunchester is a wonderful round for your daughter, but if it were me I would hold off on purchasing the Winchester 670. I'm not saying that it is a horrible rifle, I'm just of the belief that if she does not need the rifle...

    38-55 , should I ?

Another thread a couple of weeks ago about straight wall cartridges in lever action rifles got me looking at cartridges other than the .45-70. I have a Marlin in .45-70 which I enjoy, but I started looking at the .38-55 and the .375 Winchester. Long story short, I won a bid on a Winchester 94 in...

Can a .32-40 1894 be bored out to .38-55 and still function?

A rebore is possible, and would most likely give you a perfect bore as long as there are no mishaps during the process. I believe you will need to replace the cartridge lifter. From what I have read, no personal experience, the Winchester 94 cartridge lifters are cartridge specific.

Pump Shotguns Capable of Slam Firing

It can be a fun, and cool feature, but necessarily productive. It takes A LOT more practice to reliably hit targets fired at with the closing of the bolt than it does to fire a pump as quick as a semi. The final stop of the forearm will generally throw the barrel off target, learning to keep it...

    12 gauge 2-3/4" for duck

Thank you all. I gather from your posts that I should gather the guys, get a bunch of ammo, pattern our guns with them, and then spend the spring and summer practicing in preparation. Along with that gather the decoys, scout fields and water bodies, and talk myself out of bow season for deer.

    12 gauge 2-3/4" for duck

Thank you all for the excellent advice and education. Bigbore44, The guns I use for turkey, rabbit, and other bird hunting do not have screw in chokes, but all my friends use guns with screw in chokes.

    12 gauge 2-3/4" for duck

I have never hunted duck, or any other water fowl. My friends and I are planning to start this fall in NY. We all own 2-3/4" chambered 12 gauge shotguns. Are there any loads you guys can recommend?

You ever feel like you know something about firearms history, then read a thread and realize how ignorant you still are? Thank you gentlemen for that experience.

    Which one speaks to you?

#5 I have the same set up without the scope bases and extra holes that come with them. If they were done correctly they shouldn't hurt shootability. I have receiver sights on all my rifles and really enjoy shooting with them.

Best lever gun hunting cartridge in strait wall

Alright, alright you have me looking into a 94 in .375 Winchester even though I'm not the OP, nor do I live in a straight wall only state. I hope you are happy with yourself.

Best lever gun hunting cartridge in strait wall

If I could use only one for any need that arises it would be .45-70 in my Marlin. If it were deer and smaller game within 150 yards, I like my .357 magnums, Ruger 77 and Marlin. Both have peep sights, are handy, and pretty accurate with what ever they are fed. I know there are more potent...

    1895SBL Thoughts...

I have come to the realization, and please take it easy on me, that over 90% of my sporting and recreational needs could be covered with one center fire rifle, one rimfire rifle, and one pump shot gun. That means I have A LOT of guns I didn't actually "need". With all that thought and reasoning...

    Rem 141

Great gun. Fun gun. If the price is right go for it. I really have fun with mine, also in .35 Rem.

Why the surge in Sharps rifles?

I thought it was just that Netflix has been showing Quigley Down Under for the last couple of months.
