Hi all,
Looking to purchase a model 100 Winchester in 284 caliber.
I would like as original as possible.
I have found one (a carbine in 284 which I understand are fairly uncommon).
However it sports a recoil pad ( that I don't think they came with ).
It also has a scope and sling swivels.
The...
Unfortunately I have a large supply of lead and jacketed round nose for my revolvers.
Was hoping to be able to use some of that.
Yes most of my levers are rifle cartridges but some handgun calibers as well.
Hi, all.
Just aquired an early (1964) Ruger model 44 Carbine.
The manual states that only flat nosed cartridges be used - not pointed or round nose. ( for fear of recoil ignition in the mag)
Is this necessary?
I have several lever guns and I use round nose in all of them with no issues.
Hi,
Just picked up a vintage box of Western 7mm Remington magnum cartridges.
175 GR. S.P.
The specs. on the back of the box state muzzle velocity 3070 fps and muzzle energy 3660 ft lbs.
This seem higher than any stated ballistics charts I have seen.
Is this to be expected for this cartridge?
I...
Op - rod is uncut.
I agree, logically if it was issued and saw action it must have been torn down and reassembled at some point.
Highly unlikely all the parts would be original to this firearm.
I will pass on it. Its quite pricey.
I'm quite happy with the Korean war refurb that I have.
I'll...
Hi all,
Purchased an M1 Garand last week.
Used input from this site to help with decision. Its a 1944 refurb done in 1950.
Will post pics soon.
I now have the "Garand bug", unfortunately not the experience.
I'm now looking at another Garand.
This one is supposed to be an unalterd survivor...
I did end up buying this rifle.
Can post some pics if interested.
Planning on shooting this weekend.
Should I ask what ammo I should be using?
I don't want to get everyone all fired up again lol.
I was just going to use M1 Garand specified ammo as I don't reload yet.
I appreciate all the...
And a little off topic.
I don't think its demilled.
The serial number and rollmarks look unaffected.
It would have to have occurred prior to those numbers being applied.
I'm leaning towards the consensus of a machine milling error.
No,
I don't have any more pics of the rifle.
Planning to try and see it this week.
I don't expect that it is "all original "
From what you all have said its unlikely to be unaltered.
It is in Canada however,
Don't know if that means anything.
Not many WW2 vintage for sale up here.
Breda...
