    Bulldog Boomer Ammo

I use the wadcutter as a step up from round nose or semi-wadcutter. I would prefer a good hollow point, but they don't work so well at lower velocities. And when they do, they lack adequate penetration. I was thinking the extreme defender might be the answer. Would love to see some gel tests for...

    Bulldog Boomer Ammo

That's my point, this load is 75 grains lighter and 250 fps faster than my current load. The weight and velocity is on par with the .38 +p. Do you guys think that the light .44 Underwood extreme defender in the same weight as the .38 special version is a step up? A .38 with a larger hole? Or...

    Bulldog Boomer Ammo

I shoot the 200 grain just fine...with an oversized full grip. A bit harder to conceal, and weighs in at around 23 oz. With the stock service grips and the 125 grain, the gun weighs 19.79 oz. and shoots like a hot .38 special. Very controllable. Not so with the 200 grain. ( Arthritic hands ) The...

    Bulldog Boomer Ammo

I'm currently using the Underwood 200 grain full wad cutter in my Boomer. Since this is a two inch ported barrel, I'm probably getting between 800 to 850 fps rather than the advertised 1000 fps advertised velocity. Underwood says they use 4 inch barrels for their ballistic testing. Problem is...

    Charter arms picture thread

I have the Bulldog .45 colt. I bobbed the hammer myself for use as a pocket gun. Any gun works as a pocket gun if your pockets are big enough. Nice pics.

Would a single Criminal Code reduce gun deaths?

I envision a plan where the buy back is optional. You're free to keep the weapons you have for home defense. But may God have mercy on your soul if you're caught off your property with a semi-auto. Everyone is already armed but I see very few instances where an armed citizen actually fights...

Would a single Criminal Code reduce gun deaths?

He was a perfectly normal person, right up to the moment he snapped. Ever see the movie "Falling Down"?

Would a single Criminal Code reduce gun deaths?

Ok here goes... We've tried half measures in the past. Magazine limits and assault weapon bans. This never works as there are already millions of these weapons and mags out there. We have reached a point in our society where drastic measures are called for. Back in the seventies, when I attended...

Would a single Criminal Code reduce gun deaths?

There are only really two choices here. Do nothing and allow the carnage to continue. Or do something that works. I have a few ideas, but don't feel like getting flamed this early.

    Colt ANACONDA

I had a four inch Anaconda in .45 colt back in the day. Sweetest revolver I ever owned. I can't remember exactly what I paid for it, but someone offered me way more than I paid, and like the fool I am, I sold it. I regret selling that gun to this day. And that was over thirty years ago.

Ruger LCRX3 38 and Underwood Ammo

I have that gun as well. I love the Underwood stuff and use the 125 grain bonded +p load in the three inch, or the standard 150 grain wadcutter in the two inch version. The load you're using is a real beast for any lightweight .38. Like shooting .357 mags out of a scandium Smith. Try stepping it...

How long do you carry your CCW before replacing it

Carried a Smith 642 for thirty years in hot weather. Switched to a Ruger LCR a few years back for the excellent trigger and better sights. A Charter Arms Bulldog in winter.

How Much Ammo Do You Really Need?

That seems to be the problem.

How Much Ammo Do You Really Need?

It started with the Obama administration. It continues today. I can't find any .22 or 12 gauge ammo (other than light bird loads) anywhere. I've heard all the explanations as to why there is no ammo to be had, but really? I have several old .22 pistols that I have been plinking with for...

GG&G flashlight mount for Mossberg 500

Just remember when using a flashlight on a gun, as soon as you turn it on, the bad guy know exactly where you are. Don't turn it on until you know exactly where HE is.

A question from a pistol man

The only downside to shotguns is that it takes two hands to use. When something goes bump in the night they can be a unwieldy. I like to have a free hand when creeping around in the dark. A big bore revolver is hard to beat. But a shotgun in capable hands is the ultimate.

Remington 870 Wingmaster 3 in magnum

IMHO, the wingmaster was the best pump Remington ever made. I sold mine years ago for a tidy profit and have always regretted it. It was the straight stock version.

Ruger LCR .357 vs Charter Boomer .44

Thanks for all the input. I've come to the conclusion that a Buffalo Bore 150 grain full "cutter" is a better choice for the snub than a the 357. I've got a couple of LCRs in .38 that weigh in at just under a pound loaded. I carry one during the hottest days of summer when drawstring shorts are...

Ruger LCR .357 vs Charter Boomer .44

I'll keep a close watch on the transfer bar. Hopefully there would be some sign before it just gives up. Again, thanks for the heads up.

    Grip size and poi.

It makes perfect sense, but too much to think about when shtf. Don't know about you, but I've been in that position and my brain reverts to "primal ooze mode". All training just went out the window and my reptile brain took over. Pure instinct. A good handgun should have no manual safeties, good...
