    Hogue?

I tried again. This time using my phone and it worked fine. For some reason my work computer doesn't like it. Sorry for the misunderstanding! And then only to find out they don't make stocks for my rifle!

    Hogue?

I am looking for an aftermarket stock for a new rifle. In the past I have looked at Hogue, but their website has been down every time I checked for the past few days. Are they no longer a going concern? Thanks

Where do you keep record of your firearm inventory?

I keep a written log at home -- but separate from my guns. For anyone who doesn't keep these kinds of records, here is something to consider: http://police.cityofboise.org/home/news-releases/2015/06/officers-recover-stolen-firearms-thanks-to-careful-documentation-of-ownership/

Sierra Load Data -- What gives?

Wow, thanks for all of the fantastic information. THR is a great resource. I did forget to mention that the Hogdon data -- which had the 42-46 range -- mentions the Sierra bullet I'm using! Go figure. I don't plan on using these for elk at long ranges, etc., so I don't really need to...

Sierra Load Data -- What gives?

Howdy Folks – Reloading question for all. I recently picked up a new .308 and happened to have some .308 bullets in my cabinet, including some Sierra 165 gr. Gamekings. I also happened to have some Varget, which is recommended by many as an accurate powder for .308s. I started grabbing some...

    870 barrels

I would only add that, at least at one time, the thought was that you should not shoot steel shot from the fixed full choke barrel. It will either need to be expanded to a modified or a rem choke installed. I had a 30" full choke barrel on my Wingmaster and years ago I bought a 28" Rem...

Time to send my Burris back to the company?

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll send the scope back for repair. Luckily, it's my backup rifle for hunting. And I also ordered a new Nikon scope to replace the Burris. I'll find some other use for the Burris once it comes back, or give it to one of my kids. But, like 900F, I wasn't...

    4-16x42 scope

If you are in the market for a Monarch, check out the Natchez Shooters supply website. They have some of the previous models (and some refurbished scopes) with some really good prices. For example, a refurbished 4x16 42 mm side focus Mildot for $300. Note: if the site says they are out...

    What did Hemingway carry?

If you click on the "Look Inside" feature on the book in the above Amazon link, you'll see the table of contents. It doesn't mention a Smith & Wesson, but it appears to have chapters on specific guns, i.e. "The Browning Superposed" and "Three (Four?) Colt Woodsman Pistols".

Time to send my Burris back to the company?

I may have answered this question already, but when does a person give up and send their scope to the manufacturer? I have an older Burris Fulfield II that’s been giving me fits. Went to the range to zero it for elk season last weekend and it’s dead on in elevation. But windage is driving me...

    Defense against dogs......

Personally, I would use whatever postal carriers use. They have to deal with aggressive dogs all the time. I'm sure you could find it with some quick internet searches. But I also like the idea of bear spray. It would be very difficult to miss your mark with a can of that stuff. Plus if...

Good choice for a recoil pad?

I agree on the Decelerator. I've had Limbsaver and they provide great cushioning. But mine got sticky and started to pick up loose carpet threads whenever it set it against the wall.

Guns no longer welcome at Starbucks

I subscribed to the thought that "Friends don't let friends drink at Starbucks" long before any of this gun-related stuff started to play out.

Favorite "gun" scene in a movie?

So many to choose from. But I have to go with a classic -- the bar scene from Shane. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDDOd8kGBXo "I heard that you're a lowdown, Yankee liar . . ."

Hubby Is Appearing on Sons of Guns!

Very cool. I think it's all become "scripted reality" I have relatives that were on Househunters -- it's definitely faux reality. It's a show where they follow a couple who are looking to buy a house. In reality, my relatives had already bought and closed on the house before the show was...

    STAG Arms moving

A little bit off topic, but why did some of the newer gun manufacturers locate themselves in CT if it is a high-tax, high-regulation state? Is it because of the skilled labor and proximity to suppliers that are there with the long-time manufacturers?

    5 Round Blister Packs?

Are the packages "easy opening" like everything else these days that require a freaking bolt cutters to get open?

New Yorker editor blames guns for Boston Bombing

Aren't there also reports that the serial number was removed from one of the guns that were recovered? And this guy suggests that a tougher background check would have slowed them down? Good lord.

What happened to the 90% that's been thrown around?

Apologies if this has already been posted. But this Pew Research/Washington Post poll puts the lie to the 90% statistic. http://www.people-press.org/2013/04/24/mixed-reactions-to-senate-gun-vote/
