I needed another old .22 like a hole in the head....

The old guns, "even" the old 22's just have a quality to them that is un matched today. You pick it up and you can feel the workmanship behind them, the pride in making that specific machine. It is not like it is today where a bunch of plastic gets heated and pressed into a form, parts stuck...

    Tree Pruning w 28 Ga

Joys of living free and in the country. For me it is those spiders that build their nests in the trees in the fall.

what won't you won't shoot at (and why)

Anything that will not "go away". Ice cubes with food coloring are a great target, and very reactive. It would be better to say what odd things are a good target. So many people don't have a chance to shoot at an "improvised" target like a milk jug full of water. Most ranges don't allow that...

Got out with the Mark 2 today

I bought one way back when brand new. They are really fun little guns.

Picked up 2 guns i inherited from my father.

Remington 760 is a very cool rifle, you don't see many pump action center fire rifles anymore. It is just one of those things of the past. It is also the gun that shot MLK......or more likely not. Some interesting history there as well.

What other hobbies occupy your loading bench?

Right now it is a VERY high demand area.

What other hobbies occupy your loading bench?

Right now planes are stupid expensive.....STUPID. Unless you go back to the 50's and start to look at fabric covered. There is a tri pacer here that is more expensive then I sold my Cherokee 6 for, everything newer then that is touching 6 figures. No....just no. I would love to have a Tiger...

What other hobbies occupy your loading bench?

There is not a great deal that will ground you. Diabetes is one that they always check for, the other is color vision. I remember those two things for my PPL.

What other hobbies occupy your loading bench?

Another plane guy here. I also have not flown in a very long time. The .gov sticking their nose in it really soured me on the entire thing. Come after me with my P51, when some idiot with a drone does something stupid. Airplane flyers are not the issue, it is the idiots with the drones, it...

    Plinking / teaching optic for a 10/22

Well when you open the thread with a rifle with no iron sites and then say it is for teaching new shooters....... It is a good effort I will give you that.

    Plinking / teaching optic for a 10/22

Another vote for irons. Perhaps it is the fudd in me, or perhaps because I am a hated "boomer". Learn to shoot with those little bumpy things on the top of the gun. Nothing wrong moving to some form of glass later down the road, might even be the same day, but you need to get good with irons...

JM Marlin 336. Am I Out of Touch?

IMHO there is a reason they are commanding the prices they are. There are also reasons why you can find the others. My only Marlin lever is a 1980's 357 and like others I got it for a good deal. You just don't find rifles you would want to own much under a grand anymore. But yea keep looking...

    A good electronic powder dispenser/scale.

I have had the charge master for years and never had an issue with it. I do double check it against another scale, something I always did and have never found it to be in error. I would buy one again.

Colt 1903 Pocket price check ($500)

At that price I don't think you are doing too badly.

Colt 1903 Pocket price check ($500)

Several things can have a bearing on price. Parkerized or not is another. You really need to lay eyes on it, but I agree at $500 I think it is going to show some "wear".

Firearm record at FFL on transfer

@dogtown tom answered the question. There is no guidelines on how that digital 4473 is stored. I can half see that, but working in the .gov I can also see requirements for off site backups, or "cloud" storage. What I was worried about was the "cloud" storage. I like the idea of the records...

    Hard use lever rifles

Several years ago when I bought my lever, an 1980's Marlin, I had a chance to look at a winchester and marlin side by side. Both guns are 38/357, so a perfect time to see both of them side by side. The Winchester was glass smooth, felt like a great rifle. The Marlin was a bit "rougher", more...

Firearm record at FFL on transfer

It sounds like you currently work at an FFL. In the old days you are right. I have a question about how it works today with the digital 4473. I don't like that ONE SINGLE BIT. Can you clue us in on how and where those are stored, "cloud", local servers, off line storage.

How to turn your AR into a Gatling gun

The 1934 deal, while I don't agree with it, and find the premise of the law out right stupid it is just a tax, and that is something the .gov can do. 1934 did not limit a darn thing, you just had to pay your tax and you could get it. Now granted $200 in 1934 was a great deal of money, but let...
