Planning a holiday in AUS and you're a LAFO, don't go to Dreamworld

Recently received this Apparently if you're a law abiding firearms owner, and are planning a family holiday to the Gold Coast, don't go to Dreamworld, you're not welcome. Anybody else interested in telling Dreamworld what you think of them? Don't forget, "be polite"...

    Feelin' old

I got a laugh when looking at some photos we took in Sydney a few months ago, we had taken my daughter there to celebrate her birthday. "Who is the old, bald sod standing next to Lauren, and why is he smoking my pipe?"

Which Gun Are You Proudest To Own ?

The gun which I have the most pride in is a '42 Lithgow .303 given to me by a long dead relative. It ain't pretty, it ain't cute, it ain't supposed to be. It was mass produced at the Small Arms Factory at Lithgow at about the same time men with identical rifles were teaching the Imperial...

Always try to have a witness.

I had a quick read of the thread about dealing with "authority figures" after it was locked. One piece of advice I will give is if you have to deal with "authority figures" always try to have a witness. Some time ago a friend purchased a 92 Winchester, when the registration papers arrived...

Everybody now.. what's your all time favorite gun slogan?

My favourite is from Henry Lawson So I sit and write and ponder, while the house is deaf and dumb, Seeing visions "over yonder" of the war I know must come. In the corner - not a vision - but a sign for coming days Stand a box of ammunition and a rifle in green baize. And in this, the...

    Pro-gun ownership but not pro-NRA?

For the benefit of Tramp 116, I'll say it again "However, any American who wants to continue to own firearms for sporting, recreational or defensive reasons and who isn't a member of the NRA, is in my humble opinion, a bloody fool."

    Pro-gun ownership but not pro-NRA?

I'm not American, so with regards to being a NRA member or not being a member, I don't have a dog in this fight. When someone's says "i support responsible gun ownership", whether they realise it or not, they're employing one of the favourite buzzwords of the anti-gun lobby, because if you...

Does ammunition left over from WW2 still work?

Bought an old muzzleloader once, and found the thing was still loaded:what:. When I drew the charge I found it wadded with newspaper dated 1908. Powder burnt off fine. Many years ago I bought a large supply of 303 ammunition at a garage sale, this stuff was covered in green all dated 1937...

    Favorite books

If you can find a copy, "The Bush Soldiers" by John Hooker. It's an alternative history, set in Australia, 1943, Japanese troops have invaded and hold most of the East Coast. A small VDC detachment sets out from Bourke to do some mischief. A very good read.

    Firearms in Popular Music

I've got to agree with Zoogster, I've always prefered the way firearms are portrayed in poetry As far as your Rifles Cover Do you think, you slaves of a thousand years to poverty, wealth and pride, You can crush the spirit that has been free in a land that's new and wide? When you've...

    When would you stop resisting?

Someone breaking into an occupied residence, (ie, and aggrivated burglary) have already demonstrated they are prepared to kill, injure or over-power to get what they want. When would I cease resisting, when I'm standing at the Pearly Gates making excuses to Saint Peter!

If you had to choose a rifle and a handgun to go into a battle/armed conflict ?

What would I carry Hmmm? The same bloody thing every other bugger is carrying! Being seen as "different" in either arms or uniform in an operational area tends to attract unwanted attention from snipers and other unpleasant individuals.
