    New .40 S&W loader. (I think I'm prepared)

I would not load 40 S&W without a push through sizing die. When I just a few years ago started loading 40 I bought quite a bit of once fired brass. Had trouble with many cases that were fired in large chambers and were swollen enough my sizing die wouldn’t size down far enough. My Redding...

45 ACP and Unique and the Lyman Manual

The last of my 1980 Hercules Unique powder and Alliant Unique powder in 2004, tested and chrono’d. Same bullets and oal. Same cases and primers. Same pistol and chronograph. I got close to 5 fps more with the 2004 Unique which is nothing and practically identical results. I would agree that...

45 ACP and Unique and the Lyman Manual

Unique from Hercules comparing velocity from Alliant Unique with same 230gr bullets, primers and cases showed only 5 fps difference in the same pistol. This 5 fps is nothing. Powders from 1980’s and Alliant from 2004.

    Loading for PCC

I shoot the same loads in PCC’s and lever actions as in my pistols. Don’t have to keep ammo separated. Same loads that shoot well in my pistols shoots better in my rifles. Added PCC’s to my collection later and saw no reason to work up separate loads. Two PCC’s in 9MM, one 45ACP, one 40 S&W, and...

    25.06 losing accuracy??

Wood stock? If so check the stock to see if it’s touching the barrel at any place. Take a dollar bill and slide it up or down between the barrel and wood. Warpage can move your impacts 2-4”. Had a Weatherby Mkv that warped and scraping the wood where it touched the right side put groups back in...

    How much brass to save

Caution: Your brass scrounging addiction will lead to buying once fired brass from all the “dealers” out there! Next step is you will get the urge to load all that brass, Then you’ll be out of brass and crave more to reload. It’s a slippery slope!! Ask me how I know!

Loading .357 Pistol and .357 Rifle

Load the same loads for pistol and rifle. Don’t have to keep them separate. Same loads of AA#9 powder with 158 gr Hornady XTP’s shoots great in both Colt Python and Marlin lever action. AA#9 is the best powder I’ve tested. I use standard SP primers and a near max charge with AA data. Accurate...

    Another reloading newb

Partnership—DONT do it!!! It doesn’t work out at all even with best friends. Equipment at your house your friend won’t be able to use it, at his house you’re out of luck!! Reloading takes up a lot of time and often short reloading sessions. You nor he will want to spend hours at each others...

    Pot Luck .357 brass… suggestion?

I would resize and carefully punch out the live primers. I don’t like unknown components.

Just received 500 rds of once fired Lake City brass from Diamond K. All LC once fired polished with crimped primers. Prefer all LC and not mixed military brass.

    AA9 or H110

AA#9 works best in my pistol and lever action rifle.357 Magnum. Great accuracy and cleaner burning than Win296/H110.. I use near max AA data. Accurate Arms 1st manual they used CCI standard pistol primers and later data they used magnum primers. I use CCI 500 standard primers and great results!

Starting to reload a new cartridge

I haven’t experimented much with .380 bullets or powders. Unique powder showed wide velocity spreads. Accurate Arms AA#2 showed good and consistent velocity using AA data. Hornady 90 grain XTP’s have fed perfectly in 3 pistols. Don’t do a lot of plinking with .380 and the 90 XTP isn’t too...

    Remington 2 1/2 primers?

I’ve tested a few loads comparing velocity using Rem 2 1/2, CCI 300, and Win LP only in 45ACP. Rem 2 1/2 gave the top velocity by 25-40 fps with Wib LP being close to the RP. CCI showed the least velocity by 25-40 fps but very consistent. This was a small test with two powders. I’d say they are...

    Favorite plinking targets

Eggs make a nice target! Spool of sewing thread and bottle of Krazy Glue. Gel works best Cut a length of thread and glue one end to the eggshell. Tie or tape the other to something so that it hangs freely at the range. Good way to get rid of expired eggs. Some groceries will save you expired eggs?

    Reloading for M1 Garand

Now it’s hard to find true M2 bullets. One source are Prvi Partizan 308” M2 150 gr FMJ. They duplicate the look of Garand loads with the cannelures correctly placed for 30-06. Available at Graf and Sons.

    Reloading for M1 Garand

Military M2 -150gr FMJ bt’s the cannelures are in the correct place for 30-06 Garand loads. I load Hornady 150gr FMJ’s a lot. Older Hornady Manuals listed tested OAL at 3.260” which puts the cannelures out in front of the case mouth. Later Hornady manuals list OAL as tested at 3.185” which puts...

38 special reloads erratic, can't figure out.

My experience with .38 special as well. Has to be the most finicky case in all of reloading. Very long case for the powder volume. All the powder at firing could be down by the bullet base, lying in the bottom of the case from front to back or maybe all at the primer ? Case neck tension is...
