Being disarmed during a traffic stop?

If it happens again, I will ask if I can just step away from the truck instead.

Being disarmed during a traffic stop?

AZ does not require it, but they know when they run your DL# so it's generally considered to be best to go ahead & tell them upfront. I can tell you on the previous two stops (I'm sales & average 1000 miles a week all over AZ) they thanked me & let me off with a warning. This was the 1st time...

Being disarmed during a traffic stop?

I was recently asked to hand over my weapon during a routine traffic stop & I did not appreciate it. The officer was very polite & truthfully was more than kind with the ticket. I was speeding (I missed the sign that stepped down from 65 to 55) . The part that bothered me was after handing...

    Best .40 for carry?

I think the assumtion is it'll be CCW'd & the mag release needs to be resistant to being accidentally released. I ride offroad & have had to point out to a buddy that his mag was gone. He used extended release buttons & the holster had pushed it for him...

Rifle carried in vehicle for self defense

Sad how things have changed. I grew up in South Texas when having a rifle in a rack in the back window of your truck was normal. No worries about somebody stealing it, you just didnt mess with another man's truck & the rifle was simply a tool....

Rifle carried in vehicle for self defense

I keep a well used trapper length 30-30 behind the back seat of my 4 door truck with an empty chamber but loaded tube. I ccw a pistol, but it's just to help me get to a long gun

Mossberg 464 in 338 Marlin Express

If you purchase through a Davidsons distributor you get a lifetime warranty. That's what I did on my SS Trapper length 464, but I doubt I'll ever need the warranty. Very well built gun. I own Winchester 94's in 22 & 30-30. This gun handles just as well.

    Marlin 336W vs Mossberg 464

Well I did just that and bought the 464. It splits the difference between my very well worn 94 & a durable but heavy Marlin. I believe both guns have their strong points. I just bought a SS 464 trapper length & while I don't buy guns for the appearance, the fit & finish is very good. From what...

    Mossberg 464

I did not handle a blued version, but the SS version has a laminated stock & the fit & finish is very good. Side by side comparison, I like the 464 just fine. Now 40 something yrs from now, we'll see if it holds up as well, but if it doesn't Davidson's will send me a new one :neener:

    Mossberg 464

I have an old well worn 94 & have handled/fired a 336. Both fine guns & each have their strong points. I just bought a SS trapper length 464 with the Davidson's Lifetime warranty after fondling one. I did read that some of the early production models had extractor issues & read two post that had...

    Kel-Tec Quality Control Check

I've had a pair of P32's, a P3AT, two P11's & a P40. They all went back for one reason or another. The P11's did the best, but I decided NOT to bet my life on any of them

A scenario that has me thinking...

I agree with wishin. At 50 years young, I'm in fair shape, but I have no idea how well I can take a hit. I'm not going to gamble away my advantage of being armed. If I've done my best to retreat & warned them my next option would be to draw, then fire if they are still coming. AZ recently...

Would you conceal carry in this situation?

The point is we are following the rules, ghostbuster signs in TX are not legal signs. In AZ you are supposed to respect them, if you are not very good at CCW they can ask you to leave, if you don't, then you are trespassing. I'm not worried about respect from a store owner, I'm going to carry...

Would you conceal carry in this situation?

If it's not a legal sign, it's not directed toward me.

    Best .40 for carry?

Glock 27, but with a GAP floorplate. It adds a lot of control, with zero increase in length. They're admitedly ugly, but suprisingly accurate & very reliable. Mine has well over 2k rounds through it with zero hiccups. The finish is mostly worn off, but it's a shooter. I don't buy the Glocks...

    CCW, camping & motorcycles

Good tips, one other is to think about getting a SPOT. They are giving them away with your subscription to their service. I carry one offroad riding, my wife or anyone I choose can track me if I want & I can send a 911 from anywhere no phone coverage needed.

Had to draw my weapon last night...

I think you did good. It sure sounds like you were being interviewed. The main thing you did right was being aware of your surroundings.

    CCW, camping & motorcycles

I carry on the bike always (except kali). It was mentioned, your highest exposure will be rest stops, gas stations etc. You will not be given a "timeout" to gather your gun. The only time I've had to put my hand on my gun was at a rest stop in NM & it was not even dark yet. A good leather...
