    Stevens 200 vs. Ruger American

I recently looked at a savage 10, rem 700 and the ruger american. I got the ruger and can't be happier. The front part of the stock is the only real gripe I have with it as it is pretty flimsy, but it is free floated and I cannot make it touch the barrel even when pushing on it. It gave me .9"...

    Thinking about lead 45acp

Everyone seems to worry about leading when pushing the bullet too fast. In my experience you get more leading when you load you 45acp to soft.

If you had only one powder ?

Unique, and as long as you keep your pressures off of the low end in 45acp it will burn pretty clean too.

Looking for a cleaner powder for 45 auto

I use W231 with lead, plated and unique with JHP. The Unique burns very clean, but the load is at the upper end of the load data so pressure is on the upper end of the spectrum. My 231 with lead is a bit smokey (probably the lube) but I have not found it to be all that dirty.

    Reloading die comparison

I have Lee and RCBS and I prefer the Lee dies. Mostly I like the lee decapper better than the RCBS, less likely to break a pin. Also the price difference.

    Budget .308 all purpose

I just got a ruger american and love it. it was about $350 at walmart and my first group while sighting in at 50yrds was 1 ragged hole. I haven't had a chance to shoot it at longer range yet

    5.56 AR Primer

all self loaders have the potential for slam fires, reguardless of primer type. In my experience as long as you properly seat the primers just below flush plus a well maintained in spec weapon then you have minimized the chances of a slam fire. Thicker cup primers to me are a solution in search...

    case lube spray- which brand?

I have been using Dillon spray lube for 30-06, 223, and 7.62x39. As other have said, if you let the lube sit for a few minutes and dry then you will have no problem. If you spray it then immediatly try to resize it will get stuck most of the time In my experience. One thing I do like about the...

    .22 w/scope @$200

I just recieved a new 10/22 as a gift and I don't have a problem at all with the plastic trigger. It feels as solid as the lower recievers on Glock type pistols and it has almost no creep and as crisp a trigger as an inexpensive mass produced rifle can have. The accuracy is decent. it is no tack...

What .22 LR should I test to see if my rifle likes it?

I have not had any success with any remington 22LR in many years so I just stay away.

What type of AR is this exactly?

I have a bushmaster AR-15 A1 style and it is a great little rifle. That being said I think the Spikes ARs are the best deal in my neck of the woods. But a Bushmaster 16" flattop for $699 seems like a great deal to me

    Remington Gamemaster 141

Ok, I was recently given a Remington GameMaster 141 that has been disassembled in a closet for many years. When I removed the peices from the scabbard it was in, the bolt fell out of the upper portion of the rifle and some peices came off when it hit the floor. Attached is an image of all the...

    Lever action 30-06

the 30 US Mod 1903 is actually chambered in 30-03, it can shoot 30-06 but as I understand will stretch the neck out enough that you cannot reload the brass afterwards. I was recently given one but I have not fired it yet. Very solid beautiful gun.

    SKS accuracy

I have a Norinco SKS that shoots about 4" with the wolf or surplus chi-com ammo, but once I started reloading using Hornady 123gr FMJ the groups shrunk to a consistent 2". The rifle is bone stock except I removed the bayonet. Ammo makes a huge difference in my norinco. The trigger is stiff, but...

Why not the FN/FAL over the M14 and AR-10?

I have shot all three and for me the sights are the biggest factor between the guns. For irons I feel the M1A/M14 wins hands down, for optics the AR10. both the M1a and the FAL are very reliable guns and every AR10 I have shot has been reliable, but picky about ammo.

    .308 based AR selection

My step-father bought a DPMS Lr-308 with the 24" bull barrel and the thing is a sweet shooter. At 100yrds every hole will be touching with hand loads. I helped him shop for a 308 AR pattern rifle and was so much less expensive than all the other 308 AR type rifles. The only real negatives I can...

    Springfield GI.45 "Champion" Sights

I have a G.I. Champion and I used the model paint to add the hi-viz marks on my sights. I painted it on 2.5 yrs ago and it is still there as good as new. This is a carry gun so it gets used alot. Now I have the benefits of hi-vizibility sights and the very low profile sights. I works so well...

What is the point of a Red Dot versus fixed sights.

a reddot sight is usually a reflex sight, like your friend said, just place the red dot on target and squeez the trigger. Red dots are not precision sights but give you a really quick sight picture.
