I joined the 1911 family a week ago when I bought my Rock Island Armory 1911A1 5" tactical. I love It.
Then I slapped a Hogue Soft rubber grip on it, now I love it even more.
Next will be some hi-viz sights.;)

just to annoy the people down at the range I thought about literally putting bells and whistles on it.:p
Anything else useful I should know?
Thanks. I'll get the RIA tactical.
(Then start slapping things on it.:D)

I also saw these two sites on the same post...
Thanks. I'll go with the XD for now.

I've been looking an the XD-9 for about a year now an have almost made up my mind to get it, but the pistol had two looming drawback (for me) which are holding be back.
1. Non-adjustable sights (on all of the ones I've...
Since the XD is no longer permitted for SSP (Stock Service Pistol) competition for IDPA, I am considering other options. (I already have a revolver for SSR, see my other post)
I am currently looking at the Ruger SR9 and Steyr M-A1 to fill my autoloader slot niche. Are these good enough for...
