    Cops took my gun today.

That depends on where you are talking about. I used to work in a rural Appalachian hospital ER in the early 90s. It was gun central. All the nurses carried pistols in their purses. One made fun of the others because their guns were smaller than her 2 1/2 inch Model 19. The security guards...

    EPA wants Glocks

They have very, very few armed Special Agents. It's not your average Al Gore wannabe who is toting around a firearm. They have decontamination teams that are often the first to enter the building at drug lab sites. The dangers are pretty obvious here. They also investigate certain...

    Why does .40 S&W suck?

My agency qualifies at 25 yards and we will soon return to shooting from the 50. I shoot in the upper 30 percentile or so and rarely miss the 5 ring (about 6") from 25 yard supported position. It's really not that big of a deal. I certainly don't consider myself an expert pistol shot by any...

    "Mexican carry"?

When I think of tucking a pistol in the small of the back or on the right hip, I think Don Johnson. I've always heard of "Mexican carry" as using a string looped around the belt and tucked inside the waist band. The pistol is tucked inside the loop inside the waistaband. Maybe that's just...

Richardson flip-flops too (on guns, of course)

I told you so. Richardson is just another Bill Clinton in soutwestern disguise. He's a big time friend of Bill. I wouldn't be surprised to see him as Veep for Hillary Rodman Clinton. He is a liberal, who, once freed from his conservative home state electorate, will rocket to the left just as...

    Expert Homeland Security Advisor

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Rd8cRvZZv44 It would be even more funny if there weren't so much truth involved. No wonder they are more effective in restricting rights than catching terrorists.

    Sig or H&K and why

Sig. HK is poorly balanced and has a goofy up and down magazine release lever on the trigger guard which even large handed typed cannot reach. It's not close in my mind. Probably because he asked for comparisons of the HK and the Sig. No one mentioned 1911 either and it certainly isn't...

Need Holster, don't know anything about them

I would avoid Uncle Mikes kydex. I bought one recently and it lasted about a month before the belt loop broke. It failed during a pretty bad time not to have a holster. I haven't sent it back yet, and I guess they may send me another but I won't have confidence in their product again. Just...

Texas law re: LEO requesting my ssn

Keep in mind that in most states, failing to sign the ticket or provide all the information on the ticket can result in you being arrested instead. Then you can tell the judge a few days later, at your first hearing, that you were right all along. I suggest you pick your battles carefully...

22 lr Stinger or Velocitor for Home-Defense?

Check out the rimfirecentral.com for a very active 10/22 group. None of them like the BC mags but I forget who they recommend.

    Shotgun vs Rifle for HD?

Not an expert either. Both will do the job admirably, IMO. However, a Mossberg 500 or Remmy Express can be had for $200-300. An AR15 is probably going to run 3 times that.

    .38 Special +P vs. 9mm (non +P)

It's not really a toss up at all. The 9mm will be 200 fps or so faster pushing a bullet that is approximately the same diameter. 38 special and 380 are more comparable (velocity and energy) than 38 and 9mm. It just confuses people because they see that LARGE 38 case and think that it must...

Man Covicted of "Murder" . . . 40 miles away!

It's not really a precedent at all. Rather it is the majority rule and has been. Same goes for a guy sitting outside (or across the country) while an accomplice shoots a cop. Or a cop shoots and kills his accomplice. All potentially liable for felony murder.

    Newer Henry AR7s any good?

I don't know why you would say that. SU16 is far more reliable than any 10/22 I've been around and more accurate than any Ruger semi auto (10/22 or Mini). However, people have figured out that they are a pretty good product and the prices seem to be rising too much for my taste.

    Air Force basic training question

So, as I understand it, all you Flyboys combined have shot about 250 rounds through an M16, half of it with a .22 adapter... yet we are supposed to care and I suppose attach some weight to the fact that some AF bigwigs want a new pistol and rifle? No wonder that one general wants a revolver...

    Odd open carry...

+1. On the Scale of Tucsonian Eclectic Wierdness, this guy doesn't even rate a second thought. I would have forgotten about him completely if not for your post. Hell, they guy who used to ride a bike with a claymore (the sword, not the mine) on his back wearing a kilt and no shirt didn't...

How much is body armor and how long does it last?

http://www.galls.com/style.html?assort=general_catalog&style=BP327 http://www.galls.com/style.html?assort=general_catalog&style=BP324 Actually, $250 will by you a decent NEW level IIA or II vest. How long does it last? At least 5 years. Although I've heard first hand accounts of very old...

Home Defense advice on My Little Shotgun

No, big Al, it won't. It will create a large, gaping, ugly, horrid-looking superficial wound that is a few inches deep. It may even blow an ear off or blow part of the jaw out. But it won't penetrate most bones or the skull. I wouldn't use birdshot because if I were forced to shoot someone...

    Mossberg 500 opinions

I like the 500 and have one at home. Light is good IMO. I have an 870 at work but don't carry it much. Heavy is bad. It's certainly a good shotgun too though. With an 18 inch barrel, I don't think that you can get an extended magazine anyway. Not sure if 590 even comes in an 18 barrel...

Shotguns: safe to keep one in the chamber?

+1 cruiser ready/hot standby. It's also easier on the springs.
