    AR barrel extension index pin

I tried grabbing the pin with side cutters and levering it out. It's solid and didn't budge. No local gunsmiths in my area but there is an equipment rebuild shop nearby I'm gonna stop and talk to. If not I'll either ship or buy another barrel and have this one as backup after getting it fixed...

    AR barrel extension index pin

Seriously? Thinking about it I did have to adjust a good bit of windage in both the BUIS and the AimPoint. I’ve read about removing the pin with side-cutters. Gave it one try. Failed and quit. I Didn’t want to make things worse. As in more expensive when I find another gunsmith. This guy made a...

    AR barrel extension index pin

Local gunsmith removed the barrel nut from my Colt, which was under about 80 foot pounds of torque, and this is the result. Will this not throw my FSB off? If so, what’s the fix for a guy who takes an upper to a Gunsmith to remove a barrel but?

Aero precision takedown pin set screw

I picked up this set while the wife was in her clothing store this morning. https://m.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-22-key-Metric-Standard-SAE-Hex-Key-Set/50385572Shame to spend on yet another set just for one key I didn’t have. I have one now.

Aero precision takedown pin set screw

Yes. It is a 4-40 set screw. Thank you very much gentleman. Now I have to locate a 1.3 mm or 0.05” hex key. This really is optional if I use the set screw or not. AP designed it in. I will probably use it. but I’m old school. When I think AR platform i envision brave men carrying 20” light...

Aero precision takedown pin set screw

The correct size tool for the job. Exactly. I really want to do a complete first assembly and have zero scratches or buggered screw heads. I’ve watched sooo many YouTube assembly videos where supposedly seasoned assemblers left deep scratches installing the bolt catch. Tape isn’t good enough by...

Aero precision takedown pin set screw

I finally got the courage to build my own AR. Since it’s my first, I ordered a X15 budget priced lower and currently have the pivot pin, mag release and bolt catch installed without a scratch, gouge or scuff. Wonderful. Trigger is ordered and I’m waiting until after it is installed before...

Remington 700 SPS Tactical vs 700 Police

I'll put my money on the tactical over the police at the distances you mention (500-800). If the shooter is up to the task. Where did you hear that sps tactical 20" barrels aren't accurate? My experience is the opposite.

    Ruger 10-22

It's been a while since I've bought a new 10/22. Ruger used to apply a preservative to several internal parts of the 10/22 at the factory. Most people mistakenly think this is a lube. Clean your 10/22 thoroughly and apply a quality lube and it'll run much better. As for extractors, being a...

    Get scopes mounted professionally?

I usually don't bump older threads up unless I have something of real value to add. Such is the case here. I have links to some really nice video instruction about scope mounting and care that I think can benefit the average home smither. Also check out the optics these fellows offer on...

    10/22 not extracting spent shell

Yank it out. There is one way to eliminate the extractor from the equation. Simply remove it and see if the problem persists. Every 10/22 I've ever owned ran just fine without it. When you think about it, being a blow-back design, the extractor only functions when unloading an unfired round...

    10/22 not extracting spent shell

What Jim said. Either a very weak round barely operating the bolt or maybe the scope mount screws protruding inside the receiver enough to rub against the bolt. With all of the after market parts floating around could be a heavy cocking handle/guide rod designed for the HM2 round. Need more info

    Taurus PT92

Chester If your release is turning enough to jam unintentionally, you may want to tighten the two pieces one more turn. Op manual says nothing about your symptom being a lock of any sort. But a weapon than doesn't allow you to insert a mag under any circumstance isn't one I'd trust as a carry...

    Taurus PT92

I bought mine in 1988 or 1989 if I'm not mistaken. No decocker/safety. Haven't had the first bit of trouble from the mag release. Rear adjustable sight loosened once and the trigger return spring broke once but other than that I've had no trouble out of the Taurus. Still shoots tight groups and...

The Taurus PT92 I have in my hand is different than the Beretta. To remove the magazine release from the Taurus all that is required is to remove the magazine and check the bore to be sure weapon is unloaded. Press the magazine release button all the way in and unscrew the other side of the...

"The Great New Orleans Gun Grab-Descent Into Anarchy"

XavierBreath I'm getting really concerned about The Louisiana Conservative link. Ordered a copy the 18th. Nothing but an order confirmation and pending charges on my credit card. Oh, and a buck to paypal (gag and puke). Edited to add: Never mind. Book arrived this afternoon.
