    .41 Mag Association

I bought this one in 1966 NIB with a box of shells for $81.00. I was a LEO and stopped at the Gun Shop everyday just to warm up and visit. I had expressed interest in the Model 58 and I am sure the LGS obtained it with me in mind and sold it to me at his cost. A Model 19 Combat Magnum...

    I don't like snakes

Yup leave a snake alone and most times it will crawl away. Our only problem with rattlers was curious baby calves sniffing them and getting bit in response.

    I don't like snakes

About 60 years ago I was out riding my horse and checking cows during calving season. The horse stepped off into this. He plumb blowed up. I thought he was gonna turn himself inside out. I told him, "Buck all you want ol' Hoss, I ain't comin' off today." Best saddle bronc ride I made in my...

    Another interesting S&W a 58-1 .41 Mag

Kevin, You are are right, it didn’t bother me. All I could see was Ithe muzzles of their guns coming to bear on me and I had to beat them. That was nearly 60 years ago and to this day I know I had no choice. They missed, I didn’t. I can thank an afternoon of drawing and shooting with Bill...

    Another interesting S&W a 58-1 .41 Mag

Hard to believe the prices of model 58s these days. I bought mine NIB for $81.00 with a box of shells thrown in too back in 1966. I was a new cop, and i’m sure the LGS owner gave it to me at his cost. The shells were the factory hunting loads and the only thing available at the time, They were...

    10mm or .45 ACP?

Just speaking of the cartridges, 45 acp is a great round, 10mm is an awesome round. I carried either a Dan Wesson government or CCO model 1911 on the ranch every day for 20 years. During that time I shot an antelope that had been hit by a car and left to die. I shot it in the back of the head...

what would be everyones, go to rifle.

My dad bought me a Remington 300 magnum when I was 14 years old and eligible to hunt big game in Wyoming. Two weeks later, I killed a bull elk. Never have needed anything else. I have other rifles including an M-1, a trapdoor 45-70, and a black rifle from my LEO days. The magnum will go my...

    PIV 5.56 rifle

I am totally out of the loop on today’s modern rifles. I have plenty of older rifle, but the only modern rifle 5.56 caliber is an old AR-180 from my LEO days 50 years ago. My BIL just had part of a leg amputated Tuesday, result of a wound in nam. He is looking for something for HD. He asked...

Random Gun Pics...let’s see how random we can make it

The Colt Thunderer belonged to Bill Carlisle, the last train robber in Wyoming... He gave it to me when he sold his tourist trap store and motel, and moved to PA due to old age. http://www.talesfromthehighlonesome.net/gunsight.html

    10mm 1911

I was one of the instigators that got Dan Wesson to create the Razorback and submitted the first order for one. Mine came in a presentation case as a result of my contributions to the project. I liked it so well that I asked then owner Bob Serva if a CCO version of the Razorback was feasible...

What is the most recent knife you bought?

I bought the bottom throwing knife from a good friend who made knives back about 50 years ago during my buckskinning days. He made and gave me the coffin handled Bowie. He was a good friend. I only threw it once and it stuck. No use pushing my luck.

What is the nicest gun you were ever given as a gift?

My DAD gave me a Remington model 721 300 H&H Magnum rifle when I was 14 years old and of legal age to hunt big game in Wyoming. Two weeks later I killed a five point bull elk. Many more critters fell to that rifle over the next 50 years. My grandson has it now.
