PIV 5.56 rifle

I am totally out of the loop on today’s modern rifles. I have plenty of older rifle, but the only modern rifle 5.56 caliber is an old AR-180 from my LEO days 50 years ago.

My BIL just had part of a leg amputated Tuesday, result of a wound in nam.
He is looking for something for HD.
He asked what I knew about a PIV 5.56 rifle. He didn’t know and couldn’t find a brand name or any other information, and I am certainly no help. He said it looked like it had a really short barrel.
Does anyone here have any idea what he might be talking about?
Anybody familiar with the PIV designation?

Not familiar with what PIV might mean. I did a google search and didn't find anything

Not familiar with that term either. Is he possibly talking about an AR pistol with a brace.
