Lobotomy Boy, www.gunsamerica.com has several new CZ-97Bs advertised for around $510. I hear they can have problems with hollowpoints, though. I love my CZ-75, but it is tempting to try a 1911, especially one in 9mm so I could compare it with my CZ directly.

I would LOVE to get an MP5 clone in .45 or an HK93 clone, but so many of the clone makers have bad reputatiions. Do a search for SW45 and Special Weapons on www.hkpro.com, lots of information there. If I ever do buy one, I may get an Ohio Rapidfire clone, those seem to have a slightly better...

Tell your friend to look for the reviews of the XD in Gun Tests magazine, www.gun-tests.com. They liked the XD9 and the XD40 a lot. They are like the Consumer Reports of gun magazines, they don't take any adverrtising. They aren't 100% reliable, but are better than the usual gun rag.

Go to a gun show or a range that rents out guns, and hold as many guns as you can. See which one fits your hand the best. Once you buy a gun, go get some training. Good training will pay off for the rest of your shooting life. I think you can find an NRA Basic Pistol instructor at the NRA...
