ILION, N.Y. — The $370 million acquisition of historic Remington Arms by a New York City-based private-equity firm has left this upstate community feeling somewhat unsettled _ but also hopeful for a better future.
The 191-year-old gun maker was purchased Thursday by Cerberus Capital...

I am very impressed with my .223 Stevens 200 with floating barrel. So far.
Let's see how it does compared to remington 700 .30-60 shooting 130 gr speer hp and .223 using ss109 and v-max 55...
remington 581
Senior citizen uses remington 581 purchased at white elephant in spokane, in 1966.
Lands are now hard to see.
But still works great.
Ten round clip recently purchased does not work well.
Five round clips works okay.

.22 cb
Instead of buying an air rifle to eliminate rabbits in our garden in early spring when plants are just coming out, I bought at box of .22 cb ammo.
Very quiet in my remington 581.
Inexpensive solution to rabbit problem.
mil brass
i've always heard military brass (specifically lake city) is thicker than commercial in 223/5.56. the result is that you should back off starting loads by an additional 10% when using commercial data with military brass
I've read this too. Also differences in neck length?

1966 advice. Probably not good
These are from 1966 speer manuals.
I used this advice.
Probably not good.
Reason is that cartridges loaded require some pressure to chamber.
Now in 2007 I'm screwing in die about 1/8 turn to fully resize .223 cartridges.
I read this in 2007...
stevens 311
I broke off the screw of my stevens 311 f/m 20 gauge shotgun cocking mechanism in about 1968.
Not enough lube.
Stevens kindly sent me replacement parts for free.

30-06 remington adl vs stevens 200 223
I'm about ready to compare accuracy of stevens 200 .223 using 55 gr vmax and ss109 compared to remington 700 adl shooting 130 speer hp bullets using varget.
30-06 in stevens 200 sounds like a good solution.
I am very impressed with the quality...
stevens 200
stevens 200 in .223 for about $260 works great.
Last 5 of 50 test shots using black hills 68 gr match with senior citizen [45 days younger than Saddam - rip] taking rest off sand bags at abq shooting range at 50 yards.
I received in mail today a copy of PREDATOR.
I'm working on sighting-in both a stevens .223 using 55 gr v-max and ss109 and 30-06 with 130 gr speer bullets using varget.
I read.
I've always tried to sight in about two inches high at 100 yards.
Here's 1966 data for 30-06...
The salesman told me that the Pro-trigger was Remingtons answer to the Accu-trigger.
Albuqerque buddy adjusted remington 700 adl trigger to about 4 pounds.
Works great, so far.
Senior citizen
I currently own a S&W 22A (I had to choose between the BM and the SW and I wanted the
S&W 22A problems.
Lots of problems.
But S&W solved all.
Fun dealing with S&W employees!
