How much does it cost to carry?

WOW! Although Alabama is slightly above average in gun friendliness, this makes me appreciate how the State lets the counties issue permits. It's a big $$$ saver. I figure my $10 just about covered the Sherriff's overhead while processing my permit.

If so many people are anti gun, why are most of the top shows on tv gun related?

This is it. Anybody that does anything on t.v. is an "expert". When a common dumb southern redneck has a gun...that's dangerous. The only guns on t.v. are being fired at humans and when hit, they're flying all over the place and what not. People are a lot more willing to be scared...

    your noob story

Yesterday, not me but my neighbor. Went to the range for his first handgun experience. He's a country boy and has shot rifles and shotguns but never a handgun. I gave him a good briefing on the operation and controls of my Kimber 1911. He was a little nervous and stepped to the line...

What's everyone's age and shooting experience?

22 years old. Been shooting since about 5 or 6. Started with a single shot .410, then on to shooting a lot of clays. Recently caught the 1911 bug and bought my first one in september, so I've been working on my handgun skills. Now looking for an o/u 12ga.

    Bear Cutlery?

Their factory is about 4 miles from my parents' home in Jacksonville, AL. I went to high school with the owner's kids. I would classify their products as more "production" than "custom". They do make higher end knives though. I also know a custom knifemaker that used to work there. If they...

Do most gun owners drive pickup trucks?

I am country. I drive a big, loud, z71. I like guns. So what? People might think because I a truck that I might have a .45 in there with me. I do. So I guess the stereotype is right.

How do you people CCW 1911s??

I'm only 5'11 180, but I can confortably carry and conceal a fullsize 1911. The key, like everyone is going to tell you is a good belt and holster. I currently use either a milt sparks SSII or a Rafter S, both IWB. I have a new belt from www.thebeltman.net that made a huge difference...

What do you think of this lineup/wishlist? Suggest improvements.

Pretty comprehensive list. It depends on what the gun is intended for. If an every day carry gun is what you want, move the 1911 up to #1. Easy to conceal because it's thin, but it has a big a$$ hole in the end of it. For HD, shotgun goes to #1. For range fun, some sort of...
