    Rock Island Armory 1911's?

I bought a RIA 1911 mil-spec about 3 years ago. Every mag had a feed issue or two, using ball ammo. When I took it apart to see what the issue was, I noticed heavy and I mean heavy tooling marks around the ejection port. Outside the gun looked good, inside it was complete junk. Got rid of it...

RCBS Trim Mate: Flash Hole Tool

I've just got the hand one on mine. The Trim Mate is threaded just like all the various hand tools.

    Large Caliber Revolver Question

Well, I went to a local gunshop to see what the offerings were. They had a SW 460V (5" barrel) and a Ruger Super Red Hawk 454 Casull (7.5" barrel). It was a nice chance to compare handling side-by-side (although with a mangled finger, was a bit difficult). I must say, I like the feel of the...

    Large Caliber Revolver Question

Bearhands - No problem, I know the feeling. There are far too many people that don't research their gun purchases enough, and only get things because of the macho cool factor. One of the reasons I've seen alot of used 500SW's for sale. Yeah, I highly doubt I'd put 50rds through at a time on a...

    Large Caliber Revolver Question

Heh, I have no need to go to a range and shoot one shot and be "the man". I go to the range to have fun, maintain my firearms skills, accuracy, etc. Looking cool has nothing to do with it, but, I do like a gun the looks nice. Most of the stuff I have now is plain, simple and functional. I have...

    Large Caliber Revolver Question

I had worked at a local indoor range here a few years ago, so I was lucky enough to get to shoot a couple of 357 Mag, 44 Mag, 45-70 BFR (which is nice, probably get one after I get a 45-70 Sharps rifle) and 500SW. All of them were nice, but I wasn't sold on the 500SW (nice gun, just not for me)...

    Large Caliber Revolver Question

I do handload my own ammo. Intended purpose is fun at the range. Doubt I'd do any hunting with it.

    Large Caliber Revolver Question

I'm looking at getting a large caliber revolver. So far have been looking a .454 Casull. But I'm open to other suggestions, though not into the SW500's. I've only found a few makers of the 454 (Ruger, Taurus, Freedom Arms and Magnum Research). What are peoples takes on these brands? I like...

Welding/Metal Fabrication. I would not carry during work. Electric Arcs, heat and gunpowder do not mix well.

If you were an employer, and wanted to codify a workplace ccw policy ...

The Israeli method works, why? Because that is how they train all the time. You can carry a gun in basically any condition you'd like, as long as that is how you always carry and train with it. I guess what I am getting at is, Training. Everyone trains differently, therefore, carry...

If you were an employer, and wanted to codify a workplace ccw policy ...

The problem is when you have not trained in this manner. When under high stress, you will not think clearly and remember that "hey, I'm at work and don't have a round chambered", you will simply pull the pistol out and pull the trigger, CLICK. So, unless you train and always carry in Condition...

If you were an employer, and wanted to codify a workplace ccw policy ...

I agree with Rules 1 and 2. But 3 and 4, I completely disagree with. First, as for myself, I would not carry a firearm for SD with an empty chamber. Ever. If you have a gun that is in proper repair and condition, AD should not be a problem. Add to that, you should not be monkeying with your...

The best way to clean 223 brass?

FWIW, I've just started reloading a few months ago, and just recently .223 Rem. I just run it through the tumbler the one time and I don't de-lube it after sizing. Just trim, debur, crimp remove, then prime and load. So far I haven't had any issues. Just seems like the hands get oily and...

    Removing stuck casing from die

Hmm, ya know, I thought about grabbing one of those on my last trip for supplies yesterday, but I didn't. Shame on me. Thanks for the info, for some reason I hadn't though of that until I read these, heh.

    Removing stuck casing from die

Hello all, I have a RCBS 223Rem X-Die that a casing is now stuck in. I was able to do 3 cases before this one. I lubed them all fairly well. Any tricks on getting it out? BTW - the rim on the casing is gone, sheared right off. Thanks for any help.
