    Skipping Bullets

We were at a private lake this weekend shooting skeet, and I, of course had to break out my Walker and Remmie. When we shot them accross the lake (this is a private lake, we were at the only cabin on it, and it is surrounded by hills, so this was pretty safe to do with a cap-n-ball revolver)...

Period Pipes for Black Powder Shooters

This may not be considered an appropriate discussion for the forum, and if it is feel free to lock it. However, I am sure there are at least a few pipe smokers here, and what better compliment to blackpowder shooting than a historically accurate pipe? Of course, we should all realize that...

    Great Plains Rifle Price

I saw a Lyman Great Plains Rifle in a pawn shop today. I didn't look at it closely, but it was a percussion model. Price tag said $375. Is this a good enough price for me to go back and look at it more closely, or should I even bother?

Rip Ford - Walkers or Dragoons?

I was sitting here and wondering what kind of guns is Rip Ford wearing in the holsters in his picture. Well, I got an Idea. I got a picture of a Walker and a Dragoon, rotated them, resized them (making sure to maintain the original aspect ratio), and did a little copy and pasting. I tried to...

    Cap-n-Ball Revolvers and Trigger Control

I was wondering what y'all think about trigger control when handling singla ction revolvers. I reallize it is important with modern guns, but it seems to me that it really isn't all that necessary with a single action. As long as the hammer is down, I would think it would be plenty safe. I...

Bought some holy black the other day...

Went out yesterday with my girlfriend's family for the fourth to do some skeet shooting and other Fourth of July celebrations, and I brought my Remington out to try out the new black (all I've used until now has been Pyrodex and 777). I likey. I think I may have gotten at least one other...

    Cap and ball idea

I was just thinking, if you made a cartridge conversion type cylinder for a .36 revolver, but for a bullet casing slightly larger than it was designed for, but made the muzzle end of the cylinder the right size so that a full cartridge could not fit, but you had to used a .36 ball rammed in to...

    1858 Holster

I thought I would post up a couple pics of the holster I made for my Remington. I am about as new to leatherworking as I am to black powder shooting, so it isn't the prettiest, but it will work, I hope.

    New Guy

Hey, y'all! I just got a remington 1858 with some Christmas money and found a lot of useful info on here, so I registered. I was kinda wondering something about seasoning the bore, though. I had read something about putting your gun in the oven for a little while like you would a skillet, but...
