    Home defense question

As to what has to be done to get a firearm back, it varies from state to state . . . here in Ohio the new update to firearms law (effective Sept. 9) says that if one has to sue to get a firearm back, and wins the suit, one can collect reimbursement for "reasonable legal fees" from the...

Other countries' gun laws and legal systems

We've all heard from the gun-control people how wonderful and gentle the U. S. would be if we would just adopt the "sensible" and "enlightened" gun laws of certain other countries (Britain, Japan and Singapore come to mind -- I've even heard China mentioned:confused:). It occurs to me that gun...

The 2nd Amendment and the Future of Gun Control

Usefulness of handguns . . . If handguns are so useless in fighting an enemy with tanks, why are our military people issued handguns? The Germans had tanks in WWII, and yet the U. S. Army saw fit to issue handguns . . .

    God Not Guns--New Brady Sub-Organization

Strange associations here . . . . . . I looked at their website, and one of the associated groups is the American Humanist Association (which, last time I looked, specifically disavows a belief in God). How do they square up with the "God" part of "God not guns"???

    HOPEFULLY hypothetical HR1022 question

As everyone else here (not counting trolls) hopes, I certainly hope HR1022 doesn't see the light of day outside the Judiciary Committee, let alone pass the House. However, the following question occurred to me: In the event that HR1022 becomes law, what happens to the market for 7.62x39...

Ohio HB347 (Statewide pre-emption, CC in vehicles) in effect today

Ohio's revisions to concealed carry law went into effect today (14-Mar-2007). Among other things, it pre-empts city ordinances such as the Columbus "assault weapons" ban, and also allows concealed weapons to remain concealed on the carrier's person when in a motor vehicle. More at the Akron...

    Remington 7600's?

7600's ancestor I have an old Remington 76 (ancestor to 7600) -- it's old, but still seems to work well. Haven't fired it much, but no complaints so far . . .

"New" (post-2005) Ruger Mini-14 vs. older ones

I've read numerous posts on numerous boards bemoaning the lack of accuracy of Ruger Mini-14s as compared with AR's, Saigas, etc. Does anyone have experience with a Mini-14 made since Ruger retooled in 2005? Better accuracy, same, worse? Thanks in advance . . .

Anti-gun editorial--time to educate the masses

Editorial weirdness It's hard to know where to start on this editorial, but I will try anyway . . . 1. What do "assault rifles" (probably they mean semiautomatic rifles that "look military") have to do with a handgun shooting? 2. The editorial complains that the accused shooter had "too...

Status of Ohio's HB347 as implementation nears?

When the Ohio legislature overrode then-Gov. Taft's veto of HB 347 (which among other things institutes state-wide preemption of local anti-gun laws), there was much huffing and puffing by various big-city mayors in Ohio about contesting the law in the courts. The last I heard, only Columbus...

    Colt 1991A1 vs Sig P220

Thanks to all . . . . . . who responded with their experiences. Looks like either one is serviceable, although the sig seems to be somewhat preferred. "All" I have to do now is arrange funding :-) and hope someone doesn't beat me to the punch. Thanks again to everyone . . .

    Colt 1991A1 vs Sig P220

Looking at a couple of .45ACP semiautos, both used, both identically priced. One is a Colt 1991A1, the other is a Sig P220. Having owned and shot only Springfield and S&W handguns, I don't have experience with either Colt or Sig. Any comments, preferences, etc. would be welcome.
