As everyone else here (not counting trolls) hopes, I certainly hope HR1022 doesn't see the light of day outside the Judiciary Committee, let alone pass the House. However, the following question occurred to me: In the event that HR1022 becomes law, what happens to the market for 7.62x39 ammunition?
True, HR1022 says nothing (that I could see) about ammunition, but it seems to ban the vast majority of arms that use 7.62x39; the only exceptions I could see were the Ruger Mini-30 and SKS's with small fixed magazines (and they could of course be banned if some Attorney General decided they were (a) military (duh) and (b) "unsuitable for sporting purposes". Would enough rifles be grandfathered in to make manufacture or importaton of 7.62x39 ammunition commercially viable? If so, for how long?
