How does this usually fair? I have a couple of molds in .45 & .44 (the 300 grainers by LEE) that produce gaschecked bullets. Now, If I shoot these without the gaschecks, how does that usually work out? Poor Accuracy? Poor Ignition? Or no noticable affect at all?
Is it not only possible but workable to load black powder in the 45 ACP & make a 1911 function? (Yes, it may not be practical but that's not the question here.)
I know if possible it'll be MUCH dirtier than regular smokeless powders, but I am curious if this is possible & a workable idea? Say...
I just got a box of Berger VLD's for my Remington 7mm Mag. Can't seem to be able to locate any data for this puppy. I also got some RE22 & RE25 for it. Anyone have data out there for this combo? Also using Remington 9 1/2 primers. I'm shooting a Remington Sendero with a 26" barrel.
I just bought some Berger bullets @ 73 grn's HPBT in 22 cal. These are not moly's nor VLD's.
How do you find the "land" depth for loads in an AR15 so I can load just off the lands with my loads?
Finding this for a bolt action is easy, but I don't have any experience for trying...
I searched for this in past threads & my system didn't offer up anything so I'm sorry if this is a rehash of a past issue.
I just read where you shouldn't use Winchester primers in AR-15's as the primer cup is too soft & can be easily pierced by the floating firing pin of the AR. Anyone had...
I'm shooting a Bushmaster E2S Target Master in 5.56mm. Will having a muzzle brake (yes, I have one installed now) affect accuracy? I noticed on all target rifles in competition do not have one installed. Is it just a rules thing or accuracy affecting thing also?
I'm not really trying to promote a product here but I got a new Dillon primer pocket swagger yesterday. I used it for my .223 brass I've been picking up at the range (lot's of military stuff). This tool is FANTASTIC! Swagging out primer pockets are a breeze. I was able to knock out around 200...
Found a good load for my AR. I'm shooting a Bushmaster Target E2S
The load is:
Hornady 55 grn V-Max Moly
Winchester - WSR
Hodgdon Varget - 27 grn
Cases - PMC
Sunny day about 100 degrees, wind about 5-10 mph from the 6 O'Clock
Here's the target - (100 yds)
The new American Rifleman has a very in depth article discussing the differences between the two - .223 & 5.56mm
One thing brought up in the article that I have not seen anywhere else is the method measuring pressure between SAAMI (.223) & the military NATO (5.56mm).
The .223 is measured with...
I have a Bushmaster E2S with the 20" barrel. It's marked on the receiver .223-5.56mm. Does this mean that I can use either load - .223 &/or the 5.56? I know the differences between the .223 & 5.56. I've been shooting .223 ammo from it so far & the Hornady 55 grn moly factory load does quite well...
I've seen lots of various loading data out there for the .223 with tons of data but hardly anything regarding AA2230 powder. Anyone know why? I've been using the Lee Book (Modern Reloading, 2nd edition). I'm loading 25 gr under several bullets - 50 gr Hornady V-Max, 53 gr Sierra HP...
