Still Looking For A 1911 Iwb Holster

Check out Comp-Tac, their Minotaur model. Cost is about $80. I have two, including one for a 1911. Most comfortable I have found...and so I actually use it regularly. It is a leather panel, that goes against the body, with a Kydex holster body, that is interchangeable for different weapons...

Low recoil defense loads for the .308

Bigfoot, that is a great article with solid info. I will be trying the Barnes .308 130 gr. TTSX. Will advise. Advances in bullet design and construction in the last 10 years or so, are really making me re-think conventional wisdom and old habits. What were my first line bullets are now...

Low recoil defense loads for the .308

Bigfoot, thanks for that specific info. I will probably try the RL7 with the Barnes 130 gr. when I get around to it. BTW that bullet is available loaded from CorBon in .308, but...it's $40+ a box! Also, good info as to expansion threshold at 2000 fps. Concur that a .308 loaded down is...

Low recoil defense loads for the .308

Bigfoot, I am across the continent from you, so we must be channeling or something. I have a box of Remington Managed Recoil in my closet destined for a trial use in my FAL. I have been musing the same thing as you: a lower recoil .308 for defensive purposes to accomplish quicker follow-up...

H&K USP Compact or Full size?

Highly recommend P 2000 with LEM trigger AND trigger pull reduction kit (a couple of springs that take it to 5.5 pounds). Excellent ergonomics, excellent reliability, and a very good weapon for concealed carry. Stay safe.

    Finally handled a PF-9 today.

Traded this weekend for a PF9. Have not had a chance to shoot it yet but have some initial impressions. First, the trigger is quite good. This from a 1911 guy. Long pull of course, but for a pistol of this type very good. Second, I did the Fluff & Buff yesterday and was impressed with the...

FNP pistols: experience with SAO or DAO?

Postscript I emailed FN today and asked if it possible to convert from one fire assembly to another (e.g. DA/SA to DAO). FN responded same day and said "Conversions are not available at this time!"

FNP pistols: experience with SAO or DAO?

I am looking at the FNP-9 pretty hard, and really like what I see. But... the DA/SA may be problematic to me as I shoot with thumb on top of the safety (yep...1911 muscle memory) and unintentional de-cock is a real possibility. Wondering if anyone has any experience with the SAO or DAO...
