    Oil contrainer for synthetic oil

I found these at the Container Store. FYI not all bottles that eye drops come in are petroleum resistant and can be slowly dissolved by the oil in them. http://www.containerstore.com/shop?productId=10000248&N=&Ns=p_sort_default|0&Ntt=+nalgene

    Handheld Rifle Brass Reloading

I bought a handpress for one of those end of the world scenarios, so I could reload without lugging around bench mounted press. If you're worried about stuck cases stick with the dillon. I've gotten a .280 case stuck in a .270 die (no comment on how that happened) in the handpress and due to...

    how to: steel plates?

If your range is open to the public or people you don't know, don't leave your plates out there, they will get destroyed.

    .223 v 5.56 question

You won't find any SAAMI specs on 5.56x45 NATO because the specifications are covered under STANAG, a NATO standardization. Directly from SAAMI, page 7, 5.56 Military ammo in a .223 Remington is an unsafe combination...

    223 A.I. , worth it?

IMO not worth it. You're going to a lot of effort to get .222 Remington performance and not gaining the benchrest pedigree of the 222 either.

    .223 hog load

My pet load for the 64gr PP is 25.0 grs of W748, CCI primer, Win Brass, 2.200". But it's not a published load so use at your own risk. I recently used a Barnes 55gr TSX on a pig hunt, because it gets excellent reviews as a "tactical" round. Shot several small pigs from 40 - 80lbs and one at...

Pinning FSB to stripped BCM Barrel

I like pinned FSBs, while a clamp on shouldn't move if properly installed, a pinned FSB won't. ADCO or any good smith, will have a jig to install an fsb so that it aligns with the barrel index pin. There shouldn't be any cutting involved when installing a FSB, just drilling holes. If you have...

    Marlin 30AS setup

I like Skinner's peeps, but I think with the 30AS, with the dovetail cut in the barrel, you will need a taller front sight. If you want peeps and a red dot, what about the XS rail? I don't care for the look, but it will give irons and platform for a red dot or scout scope. Once again, I think...

Failsafe way to catch steel cases with a case feeder, cheap

Great idea. A friend gave me a big neodymium magnet a couple years ago, that I glued to the inside of my Dillon media separator. Any steel cases stick to it after I clean them. Now if there was simple solution for aluminum cases.

    Springfield factory 1911 magazines

I had some welded base metalforms that after a lot of use would suddenly come unwelded. Always a unique feeling to have a base plate, spring, follower and ammo shoot out of the bottom of my pistol. If I ever get another 1911 I wouldn't hesitate to use them at the range, but wouldn't carry them.

shipping an MG in for service

If it's not too late, have the firearm appraised at a gun shop or dealer before you ship it. It'll go a long way in establishing the value of gun if something happens.

    FN Scar 17S, Advice

I've seen FN magazines from $50 to $70 each. I don't think the PMag will work in .308 SCAR. I've put about 50 rounds through one at an LE demo. Good ergonomics, recoil was relatively mild and was easy to shoot. I think the 5.56 SCAR would be a better choice for home defense or to play with...

    THe "experts" being interviewed

I called into radio station yesterday to confront an "expert". He was quick to blame guns for mass murders but, couldn't name the five worse mass murders in contemporary US history: -911, 2,996 killed, airplanes were the weapon -Oklahoma City, 168 killed, bomb -Happy Land Dance Club, 87...

    Quality AR Armorer's Tools

With the exception of the Hammerhead tool, I haven't found any multi-tools for AR's that work better then individual tools. For traditional barrel nuts I find the PRI's wrench is hard to beat. With 5 pins it can get off very tight barrel nuts without breaking teeth and works well with many...

Should Ethnicity and Race matter on 4473?

If the ethnicity box on the 4473 is there to help resolve NCIC sound alike hits, then it's a good thing. I can't see it having any other legitimate use. One thing to remember is that when a name is checked in NCIC the race field is either Black or White. For example I stopped a woman on a...

More Split Necks Since Switching To Pins For Cleaning Brass

If anything steel pins will peen the case mouth, eliminate stress leaders and prevent splits. It could be poor QC or your just having a run of bad luck with cases.

    PB anyone use it?

I've tried it in pistols and wasn't particularly impressed. For a stick powder it metered as well as a ball powder. I just didn't find it to be very versatile. It's found it was very efficient in a .38 with 148gr DEWC. Good accuracy and velocity for volume of powder and pressure produced...

    High end rifle scopes?!

You have it right. By full range of adjustment they mean they mean taking advantage of all possible upwards elevation. With a +20 MOA base you should be nearly bottomed out on elevation when zero'd at 100-200 yards, meaning you have the full range of elevation available to use when shooting at...

    High end rifle scopes?!

Something was not right on your rifle and/or scope. From what I found on the internet the 6.5x20 conquest has 45 MOA of adjustment. Without the 20 MOA base you would have just about run out of elevation on you scope to zero. In theory you should have had closer to 40 MOA of upward elevation...
