    70's and 80's vintage tactics.

I actually didn't know that the AK74 was that rare in the US. Of course the '74 in question is in the hands of a Soviet mercenary and being used in Lebanon/Iran in the early 80's, but that is good to know. And thanks for that video, Kor! Those moves look like nothing I've ever seen (Though...

    70's and 80's vintage tactics.

Great information all around! And some excellent stories to boot (That was epic, Lee). The cast is a group of, well, soldiers of fortune, and the focus is on a former Marine who served two tours in Vietnam ('67, '68), went on to become a homicide detective with Chicago PD up until 1980 when he...

    70's and 80's vintage tactics.

Let me start off by letting you all know why I want to know what I do. I'm a comic writer/illustrator who is concerned with realism. After seven years of research, much of it hands-on, I feel I have a decent grasp of how to draw proper, modern tactics. This board helped me with that. Then...

    Jericho 941 questions

Owner of a secondhand early Magnum Research imported Jericho 941 full size 9mm here. Firstly, I want to address Dom's "Tap-rack-die" point. I can see how slide mounted safeties can interfere with an emergency slide-rack, but technique counts for a lot, and the Jericho does have something to...

    MIM Parts Breakage

Yes, an a post-Kahr AO 1911A1 PKZ. First mag at the range, slapped it in, racked, and fired. The recoil was ungodly and the report seemed unusually loud. The sound almost seemed to hang. Well, I knew -something- was wrong, so I ejected the mag and tried to lock the slide back, but the slide...

The ideal camera to take pictures of my guns?

Lighting and position are very important. I agree with the above poster, a tripod can coax most cameras to produce some fantastic photos, even in low-light. This was taken with an old 4 megapixel Fuji A400 point and shoot. I used a chair as an improvised tripod and morning sun from a window...

    Cocked and locked vs. DA/SA

Here here on training how you carry. First shot on every mag of my Jericho is DA. But, as far as carry rationale goes, I really ride the fence as to which I like, C&L or DA. Either one works fine for me. I practice on both, and once my CHL papers clear (@&%$!*&^!@!!!), I'll probably carry...

Who makes the best out of the box trigger in a semi auto?

I'd have to say I had an amazing experience with the trigger on a Smith and Wesson 59 at my local gun shop. Thing had a 1/8" (At the most) reset, felt like a 1911, unbelieveable. The IMI Jericho 941 (AKA Baby Eagle) also has a nice, crisp SA pull and a short reset. Just my two cents.

Do you practice shooting without sights?

I practice shooting sans sights whenever the range starts to get dark and my little hump and bump GI 1911 sights disappear. In all seriousness, though, I practice instinctive shooting with my Jericho all the time, and this is probably the most effective method I have come across for me. The...

Post your firearm related injuries here!

Lessee... Where to begin... At 17 I got my right thumbnail cracked in half and torn all to $#!& speed-loading an Auto-5. At 18 I learned the importance of heat-shielded AK foregrips, Romanian WASR-10, not mine. At 19 I tore my hand open for the umpteenth time shooting my Kahr/AO 1911A1...

Have you ever used your sidearm in self defense?

A few months back there was a murderer on the loose in my area. He killed people my family knew, and apparently this psycho knew my father (Though not very well, my father owns a bar he frequented) also. Well, about the time this guy started killing people, I triple-checked my Mossberg 500A...

Another picture thread, well used Hi-powers

Mr. Camp, your Number One was the one that convinced me the BHP is a pretty weapon after all. That, and Number One was the inspiration for the main character's piece in my comic. The Excalibur of 9mm's right there.

    What auto fits the bill?

Sounds like a Jericho to me. Figure out if he likes frame-mounted safeties or slide-mounted safety/decockers. If he says frame, I'd recommend a CZ75 or a Browning HP. If slide, Beretta, Baby Eagle, standard Wondernine fare. Try and narrow it down, the field's wide open at this point.

Do I want a Smith and Wesson Sigma?

Don't do it, man! That thing's a nightmare pistol. Got a trigger heavier than my AK's bolt and twice as rough, jams more often than a Raven .25, it's even lousy as a paperweight. The only thing a Sigma's good for is whacking people, and even then there are better guns for the job. Grab an...

    Am I insane?

Yes, yes. I only bought one box of ammo because my roommate's buying in bulk for our CHL practice, haha. Then I got a six of Guinness for the cleaning rituals after the shoot. I'll be careful not to get pizza grease on the Jericho! I hear tell that bluing really hates grease from deep-fried...

    Am I insane?

Or is it normal to go and buy a box of Speer Gold Dot 9mm's on your 21'st birthday? The alcohol thing, yeah, that's all well and good, but I'm more excited about being able to give my Jericho a proper meal. Is this normal? Also, what did you fellas get on your 21'st, ammo and/or handgun...

Besides Paper Targets what do you shoot?

Bottles, cans, snakes... Pizza boxes... Squirrels... Keyboards... You know what, I'll shoot just about anything that moves. And if it doesn't move, I'll shoot it and make it move.

    Worst Book/Tv/Movie Gun Error?

Boy, am I glad I actually did research before writing anything of my own. How about Benecio's 14 round 1911 mag in The Way of the Gun? Generally a decent movie as far as gun handling, though, but there were a couple of glaring errors. Recoil-free spray and pray through the walls, anyone?

    Gun art.

Nolo Sorry to disappoint, but it's ficticious. It's no real caliber, but the "projectile" is .30 caliber, and it even fits (snugly) into a 30-06 casing. Guess I've got an emergency bullet for when the Werewolves come around, haha.
