I have a Sig 1911 that I got for competition and it is very accurate and has a great trigger. Not knowing anything about 1911's I got some 200g cast SWC to load and shoot 3 gun. It is very easy to hit my target, but every match i get a fail to feed. It appears that either the cases wont fit...
I bought one of these years ago and stuck a Leopold 4-12 on it. I reload and get consistent sub 1/2 MOA. I get a kick out of watching my 14 year old out shoot guys with high end guns/nightforce scopes with this rig. With 85 grain bullets we do well in long range matches to about 800 yds...
I reload 14 different calibers give or take primarily for milsurps and strange stuff.
My 12 year old recently shot a 4" 10 shot group at 100 yds with his M44 (I paid $40 for the gun) using some basic reloads. Reloading seems to really bring out the best in my military guns. I've been getting...
It seems possible to hit 1 MOA, but I have some work to do.
My take on this is that FALs appear to be ammo sensitive in the accuracy department.
I'll post updated results when I get the chance
While sighting in my FAL last weekend with some new loads I noticed a strange coincidence - my rounds were going exactly where I wanted them.
I've got a DSA STG58 carbine and when I first got it I was lucky to get 4" groups at 100 yds. I added a 1x3 Weaver to use for 3gun (I don't like FAL...
Win mod 70
I love the Model 70. They seemed to out shoot Savages and Remmys in my experience. Got a used 243 model 70, a basic version, and my 14 year old shoots consistent 3" groups at 500 yds with it.
While trying to load some 9mm I noticed that my Unique powder is sticking to the sides of the brass (while trying to dump it out and measure) and clumping. It's pretty dry here and my powder is climate controlled. Any chance of static causing this? Should I have a concern?
Best Shot: My dad winged a turkey and he couldn't get close enough to finish it. I had a 2X scoped .44 revolver that shot pretty good. I told him I'd get him and my dad said "you'll tear up the meat". So I aimed at the neck at about 80 yards away, pulled the trigger and sure enough, his head...
I've been recently intrigued by the concept of a PDW for civilian use. I'm very familiar with the military concept, but there are some interesting civilian applications.
- More firepower than a standard CCW (more ammo, usually better ballistics)
- More accurate / effective from 50 to 150...
My son just got a G17 and had one stovepipe on stage 2 of a 3 gun shoot. He cleared it fast, though. Thats the 2nd failure in 200 rounds. Is there some reliability tips i should consider? ie fluff and buff?
FWIW my 226 will shoot anything and refuses to fail.
Thanks again for the help. The Konus looks great but might be too big for a clamp on mount. I'm thinking of trying something a bit smaller to try and then put on another rifle if its not enough. I'm currently optic challenged on my rifles, so no scope will go wasted!
I'm looking to add a scope to my K31 for some long range shooting. I checked out some decent scopes for less than $350 and would to get some opinions. The optics Im considering are:
Nikon 4.5 x 14 mildot
Burris 3x10 bplex
Vortex 6x18
What else should i add under $350?
I will shoot to...
It becomes very difficult to draw conclusions based on data that is heavily driven by human psychology. However, I drew a couple of conclusions based on my vast experience of concluding trends on less than complete analysis:
1. if a .25 can get a one stop shot over 40% then that leads me to...
So Ive convinced myself that I haven idea what I'm doing. Here's what happened. Took the rifle to the range after work (with my new 1860 revolver)with some 777, .57 round balls, and cotton patches of undetermined thickness. First problem - this gun didn't like to fire. I usually had to take...
I wanted the carbine but they only had a rifle and musket size. He mentioned that the rifle was likely the most accurate so I went with this.
I only have ball now, but hope to make Minies someday. Any recommendation? They told me that 50g of 2ff and a ball will work fairly well, but...
