A couple of questions on Labradar

I bought an external trigger for mine and have not had a shot fail to register since getting it.

    Who carries high-end pistols?

I've never understood people who want to slam those who spend more than they think is appropriate for a custom handgun. You carry/spend what you want and I'll carry/spend what I want. I really don't care and I'm certainly not impressed that you're too smart/frugal/tactical or whatever to spend...

    Looking for a gunsmith (BHP)

I've been in several gunsmiths shops when packages came in from other smiths. I think it's probably more common than most would like to think. I had one of mine sent to a notable one man shop for some work. When I called to check on the progress, I was told that he was having to wait for another...

Did You Guys All Get Burnt By Colt Or Something?

Just today I looked at, in my area of a population of less than 25,00, a blued 1911, a blued XSE, a stainless XSE and an XSE Light weight commander. The kicker was the 1991 was $749, the blued XSE ws $980, the stainless XSE was $1010 and the XSE Lightweight Commander was $999. I guess the...

Our local dealer just got in a stainless XSE. Price is $899.00. Sorry, but I'm not paying that for a stock Colt.

    Browning Hi-Power $700???

As far as I know, with the exception of the Practical, they still put the serial # on the frontstrap. The last new blued HP I saw around here was $659.00. If Browning had a price increase when most of the other makers did, then $700 is probably not too far off. At least around here, new HPs are...

Are the colt brand 1911's any good?

A NRM Colt at the old price of approx $600 was a heck of a deal. At the new prices of $750+ they are back to being way way overpriced.

1911 Owners: an 'Idiot Scratch' pic request :)

If you install the slide stop in its hole and let it rotate down to the trigger guard and then rotate it up to the slide stop notch, the arc where it rubs the frame is the idiot mark.

    Modified TLE

Schmacky and Stans, You're both right on the money. The slide to frame fit and the barrel fit are superb. However, the small parts all leave a lot to be desired as far as quality and fit. A side by side comparison of the new parts with the stock parts says it all. As it is now, this kimber is a...

    Hi- Powerr or P5

I'd buy the P-5. You can always find an H-P, they're everywhere. P-5s are pretty scarce, at least around here.

    BHP in 45 GAP?

Ned Christianson commented on this over on the 1911 Forum. He seemed to be quite intrigued with the idea and didn't sem to think it would be that complicated or super expensive.

    Gunsmith for CZ75A

I don't think Novak's is as behind as what you're thinking. I talked to a guy last week who sent in a Hi-Power for a complete package job and had it back in six weeks. I'd send it to them.
