    Finnishing an Aluminum frame

Aluminum anodizing After reading of the process fom a company who does that I decided to just do a cold Aluminum black on the .25 Beretta pistol , its not worth putting big money into a cheap gun . It came out OK but the next question is : What kind of clear coating can I spray on the frame...

    Finnishing an Aluminum frame

I just Parkerized a Beretta .25 pistol , however the aluminum frame is another story. After trying to de-blue it didn't work , I had to wire brush the "blue" off , It looks like a baked on enamel paint {?} Anyone know what to use to re-finish the aluminum frame ? I could use Aluminum...

    Sheesh I hate gun shows.

That P38 sounds like what they call the "French" import. 1960's model Made at the Ulm factory with the french antlers proof mark and date . Ive seen them in CT for around $300 . I also have seen a lot of P1's with P38 slides but this one doesn't sound like one.

Taking an anti to the range tomorrow.

I took a Anti to the range years ago , he was a Navy Medic in Viet Nam and swore he'd never own a gun . When he heard I had a SKS he lit up ! .." ...We used them when our 16's failed ...."he said. Well thats all it took , now he owns 2 rifles and 4 handguns.

How many own just a handful of guns?

I guess it depends on how much interest and money you have . If you start collecting in your 20's (like me) ,by the time you are 48 (like me )you might collect 40 pieces of junk ,then get divorced , then recover and build up a better (smaller) collection ,It all depends . If you hit the lotto...

Why we can't be trusted with bayonets...

280PLUS: In the early days after you expended your one shot in the heat of battle , one might not be able to reload in the open field therefore making the bayonet essential ! Modern bayonets themselves are useful tools but on the rifle I can see only one use as I stated in my other post.

Why we can't be trusted with bayonets...

There still is a use for a bayonet , When you are out of ammo its harder to take the gun away .

    Getting stepdaughter to shoot?

The problem here is that at age 14 you waited too long ! However if you introduce her to a junior club official or a junior shooter you may make some headway. Check out this site : http://www.geocities.com/elmcitygun/junior.html I took my Daughter to the range since she was an infant but...

    Officer shoots himself in leg

PAX: I generally agree with your comments about general statements and cops.......Unfortunately in many big cities firearms training is expensive when you have hundreds if not thousands of officers. My personal experience working directly with New Haven CT cops (and dozens of others through my...

    Officer shoots himself in leg

I used to think such accidents were unusual but not the case : A friend of mine shot himself with a 1911A1 in the foot while playing "Quick-Draw' in the mirror. Another friend (NRA instructor and gun shop owner ) shot the phone ,bookcase with his own (super-safe) Colt Gold Cup 45 and it lodged...

    9mm Defense Loads...Light vs Heavy?

It ALWAYS depends on what you are shooting at ......Ever see and hear a 45/70 400 grain bullet hit dirt ? Lots of 'slow' power at 100 yards ! Big ,Heavy and 800fps is the ultimate stopper but if the target is wearing body armor or a fat winter jacket at 25 yards it may become an issue. How...

(CO) 11-year-old shoots father over chores

Very possible it could have been something like target loads , I used a S&W model 19 in .357 , light loads (700fps) 148g.hbswc . It certainly could kill you but you could be lucky with the right clothing. Good thing for Daddy he didn't teach that kid to shoot streight !
